Santiago Canyon College or SCC for short is one of two sister campuses of the Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD). The other is Santa Ana College which is located on 17th street & Bristol Avenue. SCC is located on corner of Newport ave and Chapman ave. This fairly new campus established in 1985 and gained it’s accreditation from US accreditation association in the early 2000’s. And since then grows into an expanded campus of its own of over 15,000 students population as of 2016. Along with Santa Ana College, SCC are two year colleges which offer variety of traditional credit programs to transfer to 4 year universities or colleges within the Cal-state Universities and University of California (UC System). SCC also offers career/occupational programs in Water Science, Real Estate, Cosmetology, Electrician apprentices, Field Survey program for land surveyor certificates. Also the G building is a full gym facility with basketball court, work out gym for weight lifting/aerobics classes, and outdoor swimming pool for aquatic classes. In addition, the campus has a new soccer field and baseball field right next to the G building. All these new construction and expansion had been done since 2013. So the facilities are fairly new compared to many established community colleges including Santa Ana college. The newly expanded and improved SCC is serving the local communities within: Orange, Tustin, Villa Park, Anaheim and local nearby cities Santa Ana & Garden Grove. Read moreI shortly attended for a few classes and left due to... Let's just say rampant and severe unprofessional and keep it at that. I sent a request recently for a transfer credit to my new school and the new school told me It was rejected because I wasn't in their records. What has happened was, despite having my full legal name, birthday, social security, phone number, and email, they couldn't find me in their system beri used an abbreviation for my name under nicknames. This wouldn't have been an issue really, a clear oversight and something for them to fix on their end (perhaps prioritizing legal names instead of refusing to hand over information because you can't remember a silly nickname) however, the person who took my call was so unbelievably rude and condescending, I spent the last few hours of my day upset. Even though I literally told them all my legal information, confirmed social/email/legal name blah blah blah she refused to give me the information. She said I needed to figure out what the nickname was. I asked, "was it insert correct nickname) and she said she wouldn't tell me... Despite it being correct. She then hung up on me saying, " I'm not going to wait for you to figure it out." Unfortunately that's not even the worst part,. After I called back and confirmed the Info for the tenth time, she said, "what do you want me to do about it" and told me to, "figure it out on my end" This school is beyond pathetic. I have NEVER interacted with such consistently unprofessional and disrespectful...
Read moreAt 10:30 am I went to a counselor's office, the front desk lady suggested to wait until 12 and go to Building E to see a counselor, apparently between 12 pm to 3 pm someone usually sits there and helps students with questions, she said since not that many people know about the building E, you easily take your time and ask him your Q. His name is Christine, and he is new to the campus. I waited until 12. He came at 12:10 and the first impression was like hurry up, I'm just here to ask me one easy question, and done. Whatever I asked him was like “I'm sorry you need to make an appointment that's not something I can help” he did even not want to look at my profile. It was a total waste of time to wait for a clerk not even a counselor. I work 9 hours every day, and I'm trying hard to finish up my school and get my degree. I can't make an appointment during business hours since I’m working as well. so I was able to get a day off today and Drop-ins to talk to the counselor, I had a good experience with the previous counselors before which I met them in a counselor's office. But this Gentleman did not even want to help at all. Don’t waste your time and go to building E to someone whose name is Christian Chavez, to wish he could help you, because he will...
