Tru Bru Coffee — Restaurant in Orange

Wow!! Seriously, if I was limited to a singular word for describing this coffee shop, I could only go with WOW! An establishment carries the soul of its owner. The culture is led by the heart of the leadership and you can definitely feel the heart in this place. In a world of coffee shops, with Starbucks on every corner, with the remaining spots filled up with places like Peet's or Coffee Bean, it becomes increasing rare to find a hidden treasure like this local spot, Tru Bru.

I think the only improvement I could make to the name is adding "The" only setting it apart as a paragon in the industry a tad more. But as anyone who frequents this place knows, adding "The" is wholly unnecessary because they already know how special it is. As mentioned by another regular, "I have had coffee all over the world and this is still my favorite coffee shop." But you know what did it for me?

It was the time I was working away at my laptop and looked up to see a kindly, beautiful smile staring back at me. This sweet barista walked over and asked me how I was doing. I told her I was doing well, asked her the same, and it spurred a wonderful conversation about the world, our current climate, and the need to be a bright light in such dark times. I could have spoken to this lady for hours until another made a comment that enlightened me to her identity. Her name is Suely and she was the actual owner of this place!

It was in that moment that I realized why this place feels so wonderful, peaceful, and inviting. It's because it's an extension of her heart that this place feels so warm. Tru Bru Coffee is a fantastic find in Orange! I was initially drawn in after visiting their sister establishment Humbowl next door (same amazing owners!), and I'm so glad I did.

Their homemade iced teas are absolutely outstanding - perfectly brewed, refreshing, and available in several creative flavors that change seasonally. They strike that perfect balance of being flavorful without being overly sweet. I often find myself stopping by just for a tea when I'm in the area!

But the real star of the show for me is their tuna melt. It's honestly one of the best I've had in Orange County - made with premium tuna, perfectly melted cheese, and served on bread that's toasted to golden perfection. The tuna salad has just the right amount of creaminess with a hint of crunch from finely diced vegetables. It's comfort food elevated to an art form and comes with your choice of chips or salad.

The atmosphere matches the quality of their offerings - warm, inviting, and clearly cared for. The staff treats you like family, remembering regulars' orders and always greeting you with a smile.

Absolutely loved our stop at Tru Bru Organic Coffee in Orange! I ordered a flat white and my daughter got the kids’ hot chocolate—and both were spot on. My flat white had a smooth, rich espresso flavor with perfectly textured milk (none of that overly foamy stuff you get at chain spots). Huge shoutout to Courtney for the beautiful latte art and for adding a swirl of delicious whipped cream to my daughter’s drink—she made it feel extra special.

The kids’ hot chocolate came in the cutest cup, just the right temperature, and not overly sweet. My daughter said it was her “fanciest hot chocolate ever.”

The vibe here is warm and inviting—earthy, minimalist, and full of regulars who clearly love the place. There’s a calm, intentional feel to it, with plenty of seating and an organic, wellness-conscious menu that goes beyond just coffee.
