Platinum Studio — Local services in Orem

I brought my foreign gf in for her first highlights to be done here in American and we came to platinum studio. We had mikki, and the work mikki did looked amazing. She really is skilled in what she does. That being said, we had one issue with what was done and because of that I am giving a three star review but as far as the work mikki gives on hair I’d give it the full five stars! The issue we had was of miscommunication. We were under the impression that the work mikki would give us included the entire head to be highlighted! We later found out that was not the case afterwards. If we had known, we wouldn’t have minded if we were told that the underneath of her hair would cost more to do but to quote us another $100 for the bottom after the miscommunication seemed a bit overrated since we originally had quoted for $180 other places for the entire head to be done with highlights. Long story short, I am writing this post not in spite of the work done but in hopes that the next individual who comes here is clear to their stylist what they want and that the stylist understands. *NOT A COVID FRIENDLY SALON. My hair is okay but the service was really, really bad. Before I even went in, I called and asked if stylists and clients were wearing masks. I contacted the salon on Instagram to double verify. When I got there, not a single stylist was wearing their mask correctly if they were wearing one at all. Many were worn under their chin, pulled down under their nose, or not wearing one at all. The only other person in the entire establishment wearing a mask correctly was the client seated next to me. This was after double verifying the mask policy! Then, my stylist forgot to cape me until about halfway through my service and spilled a bowl of bleach that splattered everywhere during the service. Not a big deal, but it is a big deal if you’re not wearing a cape. The stylist didn’t really give me what I asked for, either. The color turned out okay, but I’ve been to only one other salon (Fringe) during the pandemic and they were so much better about following COVID guidelines. I won’t return to Platinum Studios ever again due to this extreme negligence, and I wouldn’t have come in the first place had they been honest about how loosely they were following guidelines. Platinum Studio has some amazing stylists working there, especially Rachel! I’ve gone to her multiple times, and she always knows exactly how to make my hair glow! Since I don’t know much about hair styling, I can always depend on her to tell me what would look best for my specific look! The experience is amazing too! I’ve noticed that all the stylists are always cautious and make sure they’re not being too rough with their client’s hair. I’ve gone to other salons in the past that’ve pulled my hair a lot, and scrubbed my scalp so intensely that my head would hurt afterwards. But Rachel makes sure she is always soft and gentle when coloring, brushing, washing, and cutting your hair. Not to mention her amazing scalp massages while washing your hair😌 I come out of Platinum Studio feeling so beautiful and confident, and I owe that to Rachel and the studio!
