I'll tell you why the loss of 1 star, thank you to Eva at the lunch bar for that 1. I felt very comfortable walking into the store. Perhaps my 2nd or 3rd time ever in a Caputos. I was raised in the Southern States who, their equal would be an IGA or Piggly Wiggly. Southern hospitality.
I enjoyed very much, the layout, the options and the comparative prices. Enjoyed a few sample or 2 with my 1yr old grandson.
My issue came from the diner area and my experience with EVA. Again, Southern raised, 2nd time in a Caputos. No idea what foccacia is. So, I see the cashier on our side of the counter helping 2 other employees. Very friendly. Bending over backwards.
That is, until I stepped to the register, then her expression immediately changed to one of annoyance. I asked her, "is this where I order the pizza?" "What kind?" she asked with an air of irritation. Skipped right over my question. I told her "I didn't know. What's the big one?" "You mean the focaccia?" Ma'am, I just told you I didn't know. I didn't say this. "I don't know, how about we walk down there together and you answer my questions. " The look, like a smile would break her face, Was more like daggers. What did I do wrong? Why was she treating my like I was inferior? I Treat everyone with respect. Especially when my 1yr grandson is with me. I don't leave bad examples.
She then tried to ring me up. I had informed her before ordering the pizza I was going to try the Gelato. She didn't even ask if I wanted anything else. I walked over to the Gelato counter and waited patiently for her to assist me.
Finally, our order being ring up, my Grandson literally stopped what he was doing and started giving her the eyes.
She gave eyes back as well. One that if a mother or grandmother saw her look at their child who was being nice to them, the way she did? We probably wouldn't be leaving a review, it would be in the local news. Who looks at Baby that way after horrible service? Why is she involved in customer relations.
With a bad taste in my mouth from the blatant ignorant and what felt like "prejudicial based" based i turned around mumbling.
Another employee asked me what was the matter. I explained how i don't believe I've ever been treated so disrespectful and bothersome before.
Had a very nice conversation with Darlene and the ladies at check out. Who were quite fond of My grandson and his flirting and even awarded him with a sticker for it.
If you don't like people, you shouldn't be at the register. As a youth, I wish you luck. It's only a Caputos lunch deli. Imagine if you really had to work. I wish you luck.
So thank you Eva, not sure I'll ever attempt Caputos after such disregard for the role you are actually filing. You ARE SERVICE. You chose that job. With serving others comes A certain decorum Eva seems to lack. I couldn't even enjoy my food after the exchange. We hurried to the register.
Wonderful place, Treated very disrespectfully. She just stared blankly at a 1yr old like she was trying to intimidate him for flirting with...
Read moreWent to Angelo Caputo's for the first time this week. I gave the store five stars for a lot of reasons. I have to tell you that the Orland store is COLD. You need a winter coat to shop in there. Seriously. I said I wouldn't be back, but then I tasted the minestrone soup. Better than homemade and better than restaurant. And the spinach and cheese arancini were amazing (with your own sauce). Better than from the Italian specialty store. The three cheese breadsticks are a new favorite in my house. Oh, and there are two kinds of ricotta. Oh, and they have Boston roasts (like a pot roast, but without that jelly fat). Finally, they have the BEST hot italian sausage. Better than my usual favorites. I tried to stick to my shopping list so I wasn't in the store that long and, besides, I was freezing! This store is so different from the rest (AND NO REWARDS PROGRAM), that I guess I will be back with my winter coat on. P.S. Darn, I just saw the contest for arancini; they didn't last long enough to take a photo! So, so good. Lastly, their website is actually fun to be on! OCT 17, 2021 - ATTN CORPORATE: THANK YOU for adjusting the air conditioning1 It was soooo much more comfortable shopping today. ALERT: the Caputo homemade ricotta cheese is amazing. Definite GO TO from now on. I am loving this store, even though the prices are kind of high. Trying to watch...
Read moreUpdate: Several big improvements since last review. I enjoy their selection and their points system.
Previous:I have fond shopping memories and experiences in the Naperville Caputos, that is why I was very happy when Caputos in Orland finally opened up. The several shopping experiences were okay the selection of the Naperville store was much bigger. The desert bar usually has no staff or if you are lucky you may find someone doing you a favor and maybe willing to serve you. There are price discrepancies through out the store so you have to watch your checkout experience. (But their Gelato is really good). So last time I went I needed some raw bones for my young adopted pup who was getting adult teeth and needed something to occupy their mouth. The butcher packed me 3 beef bones cut in half and as I later realized I paid almost $60 for them!!! Sixty dollars for THREE bare naked bones with NOTHING, no meat to chew on! I really felt taken advantage of and couldn't bring my self to go back in the store to shop again. That was several months ago. Haven't been back since... now I get my dogs bones from another store and they cost me between 4 and 5 or a nice package of 3 AND still have meat on them which makes my pup extra happy. Caputos unfortunately was a huge rip off and I took my shopping somewhere with better customer...
