I’ve been disappointed with my experience at John Young Parkway Animal Hospital. My sister has been taking her dog here since he was a puppy, and I recently took him in for a skin infection that had caused inflamed skin, constant itching, head-shaking, and sore spots. We explained all the symptoms, yet they only prescribed antibiotics without explaining what was causing the issue or offering any preventative measures. They simply told us to come back in 3 weeks if things didn’t improve.
Fast forward to a few weeks later, and despite having only 3 days left of the antibiotics, my dog was still constantly itching and had even torn up his skin leaving gashes and blood around his head/ body. After trying to manage it with a cone (which we ordered off amazon and had it on him before this specific vet visit), I took him to another vet, where they thoroughly examined him, explained that it was likely allergies, and provided a comprehensive treatment plan, including a Cytopoint shot (which gave him relief in less than a day), a new round of antibiotics, and medicated shampoo.
While the staff at John Young Parkway was friendly, I feel like they didn’t take the time to truly address the issue or offer any real solutions for the future. I’m disappointed that I had to seek out a second opinion to get the care my dog needed. This place is fine if your pet just needs yearly shots but if your animal has an illness I can’t recommend this place based on...
Read moreI have recommended JYPAH to almost everyone I know! It is rare to find a veterinary practice that is honest and caring, while also being considerate of the costs of animal care. Dr. Susla is incredible and I trust him 100% with all of my babies. I know that he will give me the best advice without trying to upsell me on things that are unnecessary. Sadly many practices take advantage of people when they are dealing with a sick animal and try to make more money off of them while they are in an emotional state. That would NEVER happen at JYPAH. When Boni answers the phone, all of my animals by name and probably already knows why I am calling. She is always willing to help me out in any way she can, whether that is getting me in for an urgent issue, or getting me updated information on a question. Dr. Day, who I don't even see regularly, was kind enough to call me with an update on my dog Honey's lab work the moment it came into the office, knowing that I was stressing out about the results. There are endless examples of this practice's attention to detail and genuine concern for their human and animal clients. I know my fur babies are in the best care when they are there. I am so thankful to have found them...
Read moreI am not one to post negative reviews but when my dog started having cough attacks I called to see if payment of the exam could be made in 2 weeks when I get paid. I was refused . Luckily I tried benedyll when the attacks went on a day. The benefryll helped and he was ok but I feared the inevitable. He had another couching hacking attack within a couple weeks. I then had the exam ! $53 fee. My dog was examined by Dr Day I was warned of heart worm possibility, cancer but nothing urgent. Was reluctantly given credit for $39 antibiotics. Was given prescription for $50+ cough medicine which I would have to buy from pharmacy. I did not know it would be that expensive and could not afford it. Unfortunately the following weekend Brutus started coughing and hacking Saturday evening. It progressed to fluid buildup overnight. I watched him slowly drown as his heart failed. Sorry but I still feel he would be alive if not for shortage of cash for that short time. I blame myself as I feel I let my dog down.maybe it was...
