I love salt caves, and where I can't honestly say I feel dramatic effects, they provide serene "me time" far removed from cell phones and everyday stresses. I've frequented around a half dozen in the Chicago area - some excellent, some sorta cheesy, and I feel that the Salt Haven in Berrien Springs rates equally with the best one in the suburbs. The owner is warm and friendly, and the retail area contains a wide array of salt products from culinary to lamps and personal care items, all attractively displayed. The salt room is spacious and provides several different seating options. Siri is available for musical selections. Although I've tasted salt in the air in other caves, this was the first time I could actually see the microscopic particles aloft in the air. This place is amazing! I went in twice over the weekend since I am visiting from out of town. I met the owner and her daughter, who were very nice and answered all my questions. What I love about the salt room is that it is individual - no sharing with other people. They also have yoga mats, blankets and an eye pillow. On my second visit, I came in a bit late and my time was not cut short. In fact, it was extended because there was a glitch and something was beeping, so I had to go and tell the owner. She quickly fixed it and gave me extra time for the glitch. There are some salt rooms by me where I live, but you have to share the room. If you want to save money, bring a few friends or family members. I loved having the room to myself. Extremely relaxing and I was able to stretch and meditate without distractions. Tammy, the owner, welcomed me warmly and took the time to thoroughly explain the setup and process, answering all my questions with care. The experience itself was incredibly relaxing—the foot salt stone was soothing, and the lotion massage was the perfect finishing touch.
