They don't charge for evaluations, which is nice. But I've had two separate negative experiences with them. Firstly, I had a PC brought to them that was not turning on. They told me they opened it up, cleaned it and then it turned on fine. Got the PC home and it was working for a few days and then stopped booting like it was before. Opened it up and it was as full of dust as it was the first time. Paid $75 for that "cleaning." Figured I'd bring my laptop to them for a free diagnosis. I figured there was either a short in my charger, or my power input jack was damaged. They held my laptop for three days to tell me that it was not receiving power at all due to corrosion on the motherboard and it would cost 300-325 to clean itand repair it (if it works.) Took it home with the intentions on looking at the corrosion myself. I started to unscrew it when I noticed there was a crack in the chassis that wasn't there before. I opened it up and only saw two tiny transistors that had corroded over. I figured this wouldn't affect the power, so I ordered a new charger for $45 and now I have a working laptop. I don't doubt that corrosion could cause these types of issues, but I'm dissatisfied with the most expensive conclusion made immediately without investigation into a new charger to ensure that the corrosion has really caused the laptop to...

Had a great experience here. I installed a cpu fan and new ssd and could not figure out why windows wouldn’t install. I had 3 different friends look at it and tried to help me troubleshoot. After 3 days I ended up saying screw it and took it to a true professional. From the minute I walked into “The local Geek” I felt comfortable and trusted the person I was handing my baby to. After we talked for a moment Rob, I believe, quoted me a reasonable price and time of completion. He exceeded in the time. (Took half the time he quoted). The price was also fair. I had an issue with my computer after attempting to update it from Windows 10 to 11. Big mistake. It was stuck on a black screen and wouldn't do anything. I decided to try out A Local Geek because of the great reviews. I'm glad that I did.

From the moment I entered the shop until the time I left, the owner was nothing but professional, friendly, and sympathetic. He was able to reset my computer, and it's good to go now. I'm very satisfied with the service I received. My computer was ready to be picked up within 3 business days of dropping it off. The price was reasonable.
