I have been a regular here and always loved the food and service. The last few months however, have shown the business is quickly falling apart. Staffing shortages are leading to closing for entire days, long term staff are leaving, and running out of food before the end of the day all suggest the new owners are not managing their resources appropriately. I went in most recently and ordered a plate lunch. Their best server was training someone to bus tables on a weekend lunch shift. My husband and I waited for 15 minutes to get our drink order taken, another 15 to get our food order taken, which is unusual. Shortly after placing the order, the server returned to tell us our sides were no longer available. The remaining sides available were none that I was interested in. Nonetheless we stuck with supporting a local small business rather than leaving. The food arrived stone cold except for our rolls. At this point, I was over it. My spouse is disabled and going out requires a great deal of time getting him ready. We originally were going to call and place our order and I was going to go and pick it up to make things easier on both my spouse and I. Each time I called, the phone would be picked up and hung up. So after that, the poor service, the cold food, all on my birthday was enough for me to say enough. I didn't say anything, just pushed my plate away because the staff were in the weeds with no hope of getting it together, despite the fact they were not terribly busy, all while the owner walked around, not offering assistance to anyone. The regular server orienting someone to bussing came by and asked if something was wrong. Being a regular she knew us well enough to know something was off. I asked for a to go box, explaining my food was cold. She offered to have the kitchen warm it, but I politely declined to prevent adding to a staff struggling to do the most basic of duties and also avoid a side of spit with our meals. I am angry with myself for not just leaving after placing my order when I noticed others stating their food was also cold. I paid for the total order, tipped 20% to be kind to the server and I will not be back. The owner did come over as we were preparing to leave to state they could have warmed our food. She is correct, she could have. She could have also been assisting her staff, expedited orders dying in the window and ensured their chafing dishes were at the appropriate temp. She could've also came and taken our drink or food orders. She chose not to do any of those. When the elderly couple beside us stated their food was cold, she could've also went and checked on the kitchen or warmed their food. She did none of those. When the server told her people were saying their food was cold, I heard her say they were looking for discounts. I saw this establishment struggling the last few months. I continued to go there because the food was good and the staff were great. I was hoping continuing to support them would allow them to improve. No more. The new owners have no clue how to run this restaurant and are going down the drain quickly. It is sad to see this occur. Food quality has gone down as previous staff have left one by one. I will not return and shame on ownership to lack accountability for their...
Read moreWe are new to the area so we stopped for breakfast knowing the restaurant will be closing in the spring.
To start with, the glass on the front door was absolutely covered with finger prints.
We were surprised management allow such a first impression.
I ordered pancakes and bacon. Bacon was good, but the pancakes were as flat as paper plate. Menu said they were fluffy and served with loads of butter and syrup.
I guess by butter , they were referring to the squeeze Parkay on the table and the syrup was served in the sticky plastic bottle that it came in from the store. Worst pancakes I have had.
My wife ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and hash browns.
The eggs really were not scrambled, more like the yolks broke, slid on the grill and allowed to cook. The finished eggs looked like a sheet of white paper folded over a couple of times with two big yellow spots. Scrabbled?
The hash browns were rubbery, not browned one bit, just somewhat warmed and dotted with hard black pieces of burnt potatoes that assumably were left from previous orders.
Such a simple order. Absolutely worst breakfast ever.
Maybe lunch would have been better. It's hard to believe that the good reputation the restaurant enjoys was built on what we were served.
If I was the owner, I would have been embarrassed by what my cooks allow to leave...
Read moreThe last two times I have been here the food is going down hill quick! The first time I got barbecue pulled pork. It tasted old not like the day before like way old. And it didn't taste good the sides were okay at best. Today I went there and got the barbecue ribs. Macaroni salad mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw. Macaroni salad was good out of a can. Mashed potatoes and gravy very good. The ribs had good flavor but we're very old. They were older than yesterday . They were very dry for the most part even the spot that was supposed to be tender and then soaked in the sauce I guess trying to rehydrate. The roll was fresh and good. The cornbread was so hard it was inedible. I love this place before I had high reviews for this place. I had seemed like I had to stand there forever to get waited on. This place is going downhill and but fast. The food used to be the best in town and fresh. If today is any indication it's very very bad. At least the sauce was good. How do you dry out ribs and make cornbread so dry you can break a window. The auto start throwing out the old food and keeping it fresh like they used to they would be on top again. I would suggest going somewhere else now I never thought I would ever say that...
