OMG!!!!! Horseshoe Bend is an absolute must-see for anyone visiting Arizona. Located just a short drive from Page, it offers one of the most breathtaking views in the American Southwest. As you approach the edge, the Colorado River reveals itself in a striking 270-degree curve, forming a natural horseshoe shape that’s truly mesmerizing. The overlook is situated about 1,000 feet above the river, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding canyon and desert landscape.
What makes Horseshoe Bend so special is its accessibility combined with its grandeur. The hike to the viewpoint is relatively short, about 1.5 miles round-trip, making it easily accessible for most visitors. The path is well-maintained, and the effort is more than worth it when you reach the overlook.
The best time to visit is during sunrise or sunset when the lighting is soft, and the colors of the canyon walls are even more vivid. Whether you’re a professional photographer looking to capture the perfect shot or simply a nature lover, Horseshoe Bend will leave you speechless. It’s one of those places that photos don’t do justice—you have to see it in person to truly appreciate its beauty. The vastness of the canyon and the slow, meandering river below create a sense of serenity and awe that’s unforgettable. Simply put, Horseshoe Bend is a natural wonder that deserves its place on any traveler’s...
Read moreI was visiting from France on May 2nd with my family. I am physically challenged, traveling with a wheelchair and the accessible gear that I needed to compete in the 70.3 IronMan in St. George on May 6. Because of all the equipment my parents need to carry for me, we had to travel with a large vehicle and when we showed-up at the gate of Horseshoe Bend we were asked to pay $35 that is to say the price for a commercial vehicle - even though we were repeating to the lady at the fee station that were a family with a 12-seater van because of all the equipment. She didn't want to hear it and kept repeating "you have a commercial-size vehicle so you must pay the $35, this is the City of Page policy". Well, let me tell you: It is a total DISGRACE that in 2023 you are PUNISHING people with disabilities like me by making them pay the price of a commercial vehicle even though our van was smaller than an RV (for which you charge $10, not $35). What a SHAME. Clearly the city of Page seems to need badly to make money on the back of people traveling all the way from Europe, especially those in situation of handicap. Travelers should avoid spending their money in Page and drive to other locations that are friendlier with people with...
Read moreMy husband had done his research on this location but didn't see that it is paid entry- be prepared for that. There isn't a way to turn around if you would rather not pay. Toilets are at the far end of the parking lot- no running water. 3/4 mile long walk to overlook. There are only two smallish shaded spots between the start point and overlook. Fine gravel walk path, we managed with a stroller and didn't have too much difficulty. If you go during the summer be sure to plan accordingly, bring plenty of cool refreshments. It only took less than 30 mins for me to burn (I am incredibly pale, but I was still surprised by the intensity). A really great view, a nice stop if you're wanting an excuse to stretch your legs for a while. Personally I found myself a little trail grumpy at the end even though I normally don't mind a little trek, I'm just not one to enjoy the desert 😅 Many young children seemed incredibly apprehensive of their parents wanting to take them on this venture- I found myself in...
