Yesterday afternoon I stopped by LELEKA Grocery Store after hearing they had good pierogi. I tried the potato and cheese pierogi right away, and also bought a pack of cherry pierogi to take home.

I’ve lived in the U.S. for 35 years, and I can honestly say these pierogi are among the very best I’ve had here. They taste homemade—soft dough, generous filling, and clearly made with care. The flavors reminded me of the pierogi I grew up with in Ukraine, which is not easy to find in Chicago.

I recently discovered this new market and am so glad I did. You can feel the personal touch of a family-run business from the moment you step in. The owners wholeheartedly do their best to gain customers’ trust through impeccable service. What stands out is the bread made in the house and unique Ukrainian imported products (not available in other stores). I also love that they offer delicious, homemade, ready-to-grab meals perfect for lunch or dinner. “Лелека Маркет” — це любов з першого погляду! Тут усе нагадує про дім: атмосфера, дизайн, продукти !

Персонал дуже ввічливий і привітний, завжди допоможуть знайти потрібне. Атмосфера — тепла й домашня. І ще — у них є свіжі вареники, які реально як у бабусі.
