Papa Johns Pizza — Restaurant in Palatine Township

UPDATE: when the DoorDash representative came back on the phone he informed me that after calling the Papa John’s himself he was told that the order was never even picked up by a delivery driver yet!! I now have to wait 72 hours for my money to come back to me and I am trying to scramble and find a place that is open so I can feed my kid! Completely unacceptable! I have deleted both the papa johns and door dash apps from my phone and have already spread the word around my community to avoid both businesses at ALL costs.

My order should have been here an hour ago. The app says its been delivered and when I called to ask about it they couldnt tell me anything except it left their facility and that its in door dash’s hands now and they have no way to contact the driver. I am now on the phone with door dash who says they have to call the papa johns to see what is going on because on their end they see the pizza is still there. I had no idea that I was not just ordering through papa johns and getting it delivered by them. They must have started contracting the delivery through door dash…. well this was a HUGE mistake. This is one of the WORST customer experiences ever. I now have a starving 5 year old that I have to run out and get something to eat for her because a simple pizza order could not be fulfilled properly. Will NEVER order from papa johns again and will NEVER use door dash...

11/2024 5* Did a large pickup order. Good deal on items and the service was helpful. All great this time!

5/2021 Have gotten from here before and it was good. Today it was not though. Ordered a pizza and said it would be here in 32-42 minutes. Exactly 60 minutes. That would have been ok except that it says out for delivery. Ok. Then 15 minutes later it says, Delivered. Huh? I am here and no hot pizza in my hands. Gave it 5 minutes and called them. Was fed some lies about having 10 orders at once, guy can only take 2 at a time. So there were 4 in my area so he marked them and sent them out. Questioned it and said that makes no sense. It only gets "Delivered" after it is "Delivered". Not when it is on its way. 24 minutes later it made it to my house. Exactly 1 hour. I am fine with the hour. But don't make your numbers look good to Corporate at my expense. Should never have said it was delivered until it actually was. Poor customer service. Apologies for getting it marked incorrectly would have been fine. But a lie..... I don't approve of that.

As for the pizza. It was ok. Hit the spot and all. Made correctly, still hot, etc. Only issue I had was the stuffed crust that I ordered. Cheese was lame and limp. Not much good flavor to it. Maybe my expectations were to high. Either way. I would never order it again. Pizza yes. Stuffed...

I have been ordering from Papa Johns for as long as I can remember... however, my recent experience has forced me to reconsider them and take my orders to Pizza Hut...

Here is the details of the incident: Ordered carryout of 2 large Pan crust pizza + 2 additional pizzas from Papa Johns. None were requested to be made well done.

Both the Papa Johns Pan Crust pizzas were clearly well done with the bottom of the crust almost burnt. Called the restaurant expecting that they would fix the issue. Drove back down and showed them the burnt crust.

Their response 'this is not 'Well Done', this is 'Normal'. He actually said it is golden brown. At this point, I am flabbergasted - not sure how they can say with a straight face their burnt or Well Done crust is actually 'normal' pan crust pizza.

I left, ordered from pizza hut and took a picture of a clear golden crust pizza.
