Once a mighty store, now a sad shell of greatness. I remember 10 to 15 years ago, being a YGO player and they had the means to host regionals. Yeah, regionals in Palm Bay!
Now? They barely have anything going for them. They switched to a smaller shop. Alright, fine. Rent can be crazy. Then, from what I've heard, they've lost their ability to hold sanctioned MTG tournaments. Not sure if that is still happening. I am guessing "no" because I never heard the local scene saying "Are you going to Dogs on x-day for the tournament?".
And this doesn't come as a surprise because in a last ditch effort to help do my small part in keeping them going, I recently was granted summer hours by my job. I get out of work at 1pm on Friday. I called them early May to inquire if they had a precon for MTG in stock. I was put on hold and I waited 7 minutes before hanging up. I didn't get the sense that the person who answered was coming back soon. And now today, the early beginning of June, they won't even pick up the phone!
Screw 'em. This is poor service. It isn't even service. Some places make their own grave. I really do wish them the best but they need to pick it up if they aren't going to...
Read moreDogs is a good tabletop gaming shop, with enough Warhammer product to rival an official GW store. Model selection is pretty great, with older OOP models that are still sold for standard price.
Dogs sells everything at full price, so expect to pay 10-20% more than what you see on online retailers. While a little unfortunate, these stores need to keep surviving with a super niche clientele. If it means keeping the store alive and well, I'll pay the extra money to have this spot.
Their playspace needs to be renovated in my honest opinion. It's pretty drab, and not incredibly inviting to new players.
The staff are super friendly and can even make for good conversation. But I admit I'm usually there for a specific box and I'm pretty in-and-out most times.
Super solid store for Warhammer and general wargaming fans.
I attach a picture of Skarbrand, a model I couldn't find ANYWHERE before...
Read moreNew to the area, and new to tabletop games, I was welcomed with open arms, owner is very nice and took the time to help me with lore, rules etc etc of my game of choice. (40K)
Community seems incredibly welcoming and friendly too as everyone in the store offered to help me organize my army. Big warehouse in the back full of tables for everyone to play any tabletop game they could think of. I came back the very next day to buy more because I was so excited.
Highly recommend checking it out. I prefer spending the $10 difference here rather than Amazon because of the atmosphere, the guidance and the biggest one, to support the store so the community doesn’t die, I would never have gotten into this hobby...
