The center stone of my engagement ring had been knocked loose, and was slightly moving in the setting. I took it to Anthony's for a repair, and was told that the prongs could be tightened to solve the issue. The ring was sent to their goldsmith, but when I returned to pick it up discovered the wiggling had not changed, at all. It was explained to me that apparently the diamond needed to be reset in the setting. (I should have realized that if they were willing to give it to me the way it was, I should have left then). I agreed to have it reset and it was sent out again. I returned to pick it up today, to find that my bill had increased and the stone movement was STILL present in the setting. I was assured over and over that the stone was not moving, that it was my skin I felt moving over the stone, the different levels of fatty tissue in my finger. I moved the stone for them, seeing the light pass over the diamond and feeling the click on the metal. He insisted there was no movement with tweezers and no clicking noise to be heard. They offered to reset it in new prongs for a cost. I made it very clear that the stone was indeed moving just as much as when I arrived two weeks ago, and if it was something that could not be fixed based on the diamond and the setting that I already owned, I should have been told that at the time.
In addition to my own frustration, I could hear another conversation taking place within the store. Apparently a woman sent her engagement ring out for repair and returned to find the shank worn completely down. Another employee was assuring her that although she might think that's what happened, it must have been worn down before it was given to them. More of the same "we did our best, you owe us money now".
Their jewelry certainly looks beautiful in the store, but do not use them for repairs. I paid my bill being the better person, but am completely unsatisfied with the work, and I was disappointed to find that they "just don't notice a problem at all". To me, customer service matters. It is a beautiful silver disc, and the hand engraved feet in the picture actually are my grandson’s. There is no mistaking them. My sales associate, Laurie Shannon, who was my guide through this entire process, then helped me pick out a beautiful sterling silver bar dapped link chain which complimented the disc beautifully. You'll always be greeted when you walk in the shop, the showroom is beautiful, and the employees are all incredibly nice. Tom, who happened to grow up down the street from me, was super helpful in getting everything picked out, set up, and priced. And she said yes, thankfully! Everything about the entire experience was great from start to finish.
Unfortunately, she pinched her finger over the weekend and the ring was damaged. I brought it in for Tom to take a look and he got it all squared away! My fiancée and I are both incredibly satisfied with the process to repair it and the turnaround time.
