Avoid at all costs. If you need mental help especially, you’re better off getting arrested. I’m not even kidding. At least then, you’ll get a warm cell with a toilet and a sink, and a bed with blankets and a pillow. And you’re more likely to get out the next day too. Absolutely inhumane treatment. The psychologist who treated me couldn't even tell the difference between mania, delusions and psychosis. I was overmedicated, had to start refusing medication, and even had to have a hearing to be able to leave after 3 days. I can honestly say I became significantly worse after staying. I will never come back here again. Everyone who works here should be ashamed of themselves. But then again, these are the same people that brought you the Milgram Prison Experiment, so is it really that surprising? Avoid at all costs.

I went to Dr. Diana Tahereh Atashroo for a laparoscopy to have my endometriosis cut out. It went horribly because of the doctors carelessness. I am healthy, in my early 20s and all I wanted was to stop my pain. I was worried to have surgery and about scarring, but I was assured I would wake up pain-free and it would only be 4 very small horizontal scars. When I woke up from surgery I was in excruciating pain. I didn't know what was happening, I could barely talk. I was rolling around groaning and begging for help. In the common recovery room where even other patients were starting to get irritated at the lack of help and wanted to help themselves. Eventually, the anesthesiologist came and gave me pain medicine, and I was given a catheter after surgery. I found out it was urine retention because I did not have a catheter in during the surgery like I was supposed to. The anesthesiologist and a nurse who was helping with my surgery told me I did not have a catheter in at all during surgery. The laparoscopy went about 5 hours. Because of the pain my outpatient surgery turned into me having to stay overnight. I kept waking up in pain because of this. I was left in the dark as to what happened by this doctor. After I was finally able to go home the next day I removed the top layer of my bandages and seen someone had peeled the tape and my skin along with it and put the tape back on to hide it. I now have an ugly large rectangular tape scar. When I asked why this happened at my follow up appt, Dr Atashroo lied and told me I had a catheter in and she took it out when I was finished with my surgery, but the anesthesiologist and nurse told me I never had one. I just wanted reassurance this wouldn't happen if I have another surgery and an apology would have been nice. But all she did was get defensive and lie about it. The surgery did not help at all. Nothing has changed in regards to pain. Save yourself the heartache and pain and see...

04.15.25 3pm - 04.17.25 12pm After multiple CT scans each incrementally showing slight improvement over the other daddy was transferred from ICU (500 Pasteur Dr) to the Recovery in H block at 300 Pasteur Dr.

The nurses here, especially Ye-Ji Kang, Michelle Oh, 8 weeks-in nurse Shannon (blonde hair), and nurse Pearl were exceptional in caring for dad as well as for mom who had stayed in hospital from 04.11-04.17 also caring for daddy. We would like to thank these beautiful and efficient nurses for their care, compassion and diligence of duty and hope that Stanford University Hospital recognizes their work quality.

04.12.25 - 04.15.25 Daddy was transferred from El Camino Hospital ER Mt View (admitted 04.11.25) to Stanford ICU for urgent endoscopic corrective surgery for Tension Pneumocephaly from Septoplasty done on 04.09.25.

Dr. Michael Chang, ENT Specialist and Associate Professor, surgically grafted the 1/4" fracture/hole so CFS didn't leak anymore & to decompress air pockets applying massive pressure in the brain. Dr. Chang did an excellent job, just perfect, and we cannot thank him enough. He also stopped by daily to check on daddy and we are so touched as we understand doctors are busy treating a multitude of patients and have little free time.

We also thank the absolutely wonderful Dr. Cameron Black & Dr. Matthew Mesias (both Geriatricians), Dr. Mohamed Diop & Dr. Shannon Wu (both ENTs) who all stopped by multiple times for dad while he was in H unit. Dr. Diop removed the collumellar strut stitch perfectly and was very gentle.

We are grateful to have the level of physician knowledge and ability as well as care from Stanford University Hospital staff and are very thankful to them knowing they are all underappreciated and work long hours...

In ICU, after brain surgery, in the first 4 days after I had my head drilled into, I got 1-2 hours of sleep daily/nightly due to pain level of 20/10. I was in agony. I begged for pain relief; my husband begged for pain relief for me. He emailed the doctor. He constantly asked the nurses. No relief. I was beyond agony. Then during the 4th night, my IV tape fell off. I called the nurse. She came in high and could not even figure out how to secure the line with tape!! I had to do it! The next morning, I asked to see my chart. Oral pain meds and shots had been ordered for me. But little to none given! In 4 nights I had gotten 5 hours of sleep TOTAL! So, when the Residents came in on day 5, I asked, « How important is sleep to healing? » They said, « Very! ». « Then why have you not allowed me to get any? You have not even seen to it that I was given those meds prescribed for me despite the fact that my husband and I have asked, begged, pleaded, etc. We’ve told the doctor, you, the nurses, anyone who would listen that I hadn’t been able to sleep due to PAIN. You all did NOTHING! You all refused to listen to your patient; and because of YOU, my healing, by your own admission, has suffered for it.» The residents were speechless! Then My husband said, «Give my wife the pain relief she needs Now! Or else… » And Guess what? They gave me what had been prescribed and I was able to sleep. When I think of the Stanford Neurosurgery’s ICU, the doctors and nurses, I shutter in HORROR!! Abject HORROR!! I post this in the hope that Stanford will clean up its act and never let this happen to...
