My bf and I went to get an 80 minute couples massage. We were able to book the day before which was nice that they had the availability. There was a man standing by the locker rooms who greeted us. He brought my bf to the men’s locker room to show him around. He told me to go ahead and go in the women’s and someone would be with me. I went in and there was no one in sight that worked there. The locker room is large and like a maze so I ended up walking around quite a bit trying to find someone to help me get into a locker and get a robe. Finally found someone. Waiting and walking around while looking for help ate up my time I planned to spend in the steam room. So I had to skip that and go straight to the co-Ed waiting lounge room where the man in the front who showed my bf the locker room told us to meet back up. We ended up reuniting in this room and waited for about 10 min. Finally about 5 min past our appointment time our therapists came in to greet us and both acted like they were exhausted from looking everywhere for us. My therapist said finally! There you are! And my bf asked where else would we be? And he said well we looked everywhere else so I suppose right here! We finally get to our room and by the time we get on the table and our therapists are back in it’s now appropriately 15 minutes into our massage time. My therapist only did long Swedish strokes and nothing more, nothing less. It was not a good massage at all. Just the same technique on every limb. I had asked if he could work on some knots in my shoulders and he didn’t do that at all. It was disappointing. When they were finished I was surprised to see it was 10 min before our massage was supposed to end. We paid almost $800 total for an 80 minute massage and only received an hour, at best. My bf said he was disappointed in the quality of his massage as well. Not to mention his therapist kept talking Thru his massage. I go back to the dressing room to get ready to leave and sat down on the bench. Was absolutely mortified when I got up and realized what I had sat down on. The bench in the women’s locker room is disgusting. It has what looked like dried up chunky milk spilled on it, I have no idea what it actually was, but I was completely disgusted and pretty upset. I go out to my car and there’s some nasty fast food spoiled and left near my rear tires. I parked in the garage, just figured they would’ve kept that cleaner, but by the looks of the locker room I suppose it doesn’t surprise me. I will never come here for a massage or to stay at the hotel for that matter. I can only imagine what their rooms are like. Very poor customer service and cleanliness. I do not recommend this spa or hotel. Very...

Worst experience ever.i wish i could give zero stars.i had went to a early dentist appointment to have a crown re cemented on because it was loose,it’s very close to joya and i was having a sad day due to my husband recently passing away so i took a chance and called joya to see if they had any last minute appointments available, they had a 230 appointment and i arrived around 1130am, Making small talk with the lady that assigns your locker she said how are you today and I made a joke that I just came back from the dentist and that’s never fun, but things should be better now they I’m having a much needed spa day, i waited almost 3 hours for my appointment ( nobody came in to ask me anything about my dental appointment) whe. My appointment came they took me to my room, waited to i was on the table then she came in And started asking what type dental procedure i had,i said “oh just a loose crown that needed glued back on” she said was you under any anesthesia i laughed and said “no” This wasn’t anything like that,he just gave me some topical numbing cream.she left again and came back with a manager who said i could not have my treatment or any treatment that day,i ask why did u wait 3 hours before asking me these questions, she said the locker room lady said i told her i was put under anesthesia,(the locker room lady speaks Spanish and perhaps missunderstood, I reassured her that my dentist is not even licensed to put someone under anesthesia, and I would be willing to call and let them talk to him,he can tell them exactly what was done, but she refused. I am not sure if this was a case of overbooking services. and they just use it as an excuse or off there really was a breakdown in communication. However the worst part was how condescending the manager was. she gave me the impression that she thought i was lying ,i don’t understand why she wouldn’t just call the dentist to confirm,i even told her I’d call and let them tell her here what she needed to know but again she refused , My much needed day has been ruined. She offered me a discount on a future service but il never come...

If I could give a no star review I would. I am a local who frequents spas in the area and this is one that I will not be returning to...My husband and I did a staycation last weekend and ended it with a trip to the spa. Sounded like a perfect end to a getaway. We were both escorted with a smile and then everything changed once I entered the women's locker room. I was told to stand in this dark waiting area for an attendant...I waited close to 5 mins before anyone came by and I had to ask what to do. The woman pointed to a locker had me sign my name, handed me a robe and spa shoes and walked away. What to do then I did not know. Where do I go for my treatment...What is in the locker room...Where are the bathrooms...Where are the showers. All questions being a first time visitor that I did not have the answer to. So I got into my robe and waited around again to see if she would come back by. Keep in mind my husband and I arrived early to enjoy some of the facilities that the spa offered. I then ventured off to find someone (the same lady) who stood in one spot and pointed to where everything was. At this point I gave up on the assistance and went on my own. My message room was bright and the massage was less than desired. The locker room and room where the steam room are were a mess...towels were low and they were out of cold clothes and it was the middle of the day. The greeter told us that it was not a busy day compared to Fri and Sat. So why was it such a mess and why was the service so lacking. All in all I will not be back there. To top it off we went out to the outside pool where I once again waited around to get a glass of water and a menus. There I was again flagging someone down where I was completely ignored. Finally after walking directly up to someone did I get service. I will say the food was satisfying and they accommodated my food allergies...Which I appreciated. There are several other hotel spas in the area that every time far surpass my expectations. This one I was looking forward to and was more than disappointed. I will be calling...

spa day to myself was my birthday surprise from my husband! It started with a joyous 50 minute signature massage and then drinks and reading for a couple hours by the pool...with the beautiful Camelback Mountain for my view. As a patron of the spa you have access to all spa amenities when your massage is complete. The social lounge offers complimentary water and hot teas and the whisper room is a row of curtained beds for a litlle nap time. Another room houses a large hot tub, sauna and steam room. The Terrace pool area has breathtaking views of Camelback mountain as you sunbathe, soak in the heated pool and enjoy some food and drinks. I had a couple of alcoholic beverages along with the red pepper hummus with naan and vegetable crudite...it was a perfect light refreshing meal in the warm January Arizona sun. So, book an early massage and then enjoy the amenities until 630pm. There were a couple Bachelorette groups and a few couples enjoying the spa together but I absolutely loved having those few hours to myself.

Paid $60 for a deluxe pedicure in the salon and then had the rest of the day to experience everything in the Montelucia Joya Spa. It was really nice. You escape the bright, scorching July sun and enter this dim, cool, inviting environment that makes you think of Morocco and good intentions. I took advantage of the hot tub, the cold shower, the fruit infused water, the lounge room, the quiet mineral room, the small crowded rooftop pool with the view of Camelback Mountain, and the restaurant. For vegetarians, there's a yummy mushroom burger and fried sweet potatoes. At the end of the day, I showered under fresh eucalyptus and gave back my shoes and robe. If I had to think of something not great about the place, I did find it annoying to have to navigate the rooms with so little signage and staff help. I also didn't like having to keep up with a credit card in order to pay for food (everyone's robes look the same on the loungers). Overall, this was a great experience. I recommend.
