Quality of Candy: 5 Stars Ambiance: 5 Stars Customer Service: 2 Stars
I’ve been thinking about this candy shop since before the Camp Fire ⛺️ 🔥 that took out the Town of Paradise. My father-in-law was happy to hear that Joy Lyn’s planned to rebuild, and ever since I’ve been eager to revisit. 🤤 😋 As of this review I have yet to eat them, so the five stars referenced at the beginning of this review review speak to the Candy eaten in the past.
While walking inside the lobby you see it is an open-concept interior design, allowing the customer to view seven quiet bakers creating Easter bunnies and chocolate eggs. (This is written during Easter time.) 🍫 There were seven people sharing the same space as us, and it wasn’t worth anyone’s time to look up and welcome us... The emotionally-distant coldness of the staff conflicted with the bright pastel color palette of Easter chocolates.
Tip for Team JL: Put a friendly person in a position to greet visitors. Bonus tip: Give your check out person a cute apron to wear that matches the interior concept that ties in with the Victorian white + pastel theme. Details like this bump this from a four star experience to five stars. ...
Read moreI brought my out of town guest plus local friends into your place today. It was my idea to include this stop in our holiday agenda. My mom purchased a Carmel apple and another candy. Handed me the apple as a gift. I told my mom to please put it back because they may think you stole it. As I’m helping my senior mom get it back into the bag the owner says in a very rude tone, “What are you doing?” I then explained what we were doing. Let me suggest that instead of coming off in an accusatory tone you could have gently said, ”Mam you purchased one apple right?” There are other ways to respond in these situations. You could have just observed first before saying anything. It was very offensive. I’ve never had anyone think I was stealing. I’m probably the most honest person on this planet. Please keep this in mind for future customers especially those who bring in guest and send referrals. You have a beautiful place and amazing candy. Wish you...
Read moreThe quality of their candy has really dropped drastically in the period after the CAMP fire. For example, their milk chocolate tastes like the Whitman's samplers (low quality off-brand chocolate) that is sold at Christmas time. And the fillings of the orange and lemon cream taste like a melted starburst candy. The Opera cream which used to taste like See's Bordeau, has an unidentifiable taste. The beer brittle is awful. The saltwater taffy is really bad, over use of artificial flavor and some are very greasy and some are very sticky. We bought $80 worth of candy this weekend and the only good thing was the chocolate covered honeycomb. The woman at the cash register "Grammy" was very rude. The previous owners were much more compatible with the candy business and always had great customer service. Painting your building pretty does not make your...
