Course is OK... Greens are well kept, Fairways are taken care of, tee boxes are clean, and people that played the course kept good pace.
Service is absolutely terrible and demeaning. at 4:25PM, I saw a hot deal tee time for 4:50PM (this was the ONLY time available, and was NOT around 1:00PM). Given that I do not live next door to this course, I did my absolute best to get there as soon as I could, and arrived at 4:52PM.. Man behind the counter asks for my name, then berates me because I gave him my first name instead of my last name...
Because this man took 6 minutes to deal with, I walked to the starter area at 4:58PM and was told "I shouldn't even be let on the course", you know, because I was "so late", Only for the starter pair me up with a 2-some that had not even stepped on the tee box for their 5PM tee time because there was already a 4-some that had tee'd off in front of them*, meaning I wouldn't be able to play at 4:50PM anyways.
I like the course for it's location and ease of play, however the staff is incredibly disappointing, especially considering that this is a NINE HOLE COUNTY-RUN COURSE crammed next to a Community College, rather than a high-end country club. To be clear, I am not complaining about the wait here, I have waited plenty of time for a scheduled tee time at other courses, however berating me and making me feel stupid because the course was overbooked in the first place is wrong.
I suppose this is what happens when you hire bitter, old, raggedy men who clearly are not happy with their lives... Send these guys to a retirement home and hire some decent employees, then maybe I'll come back to play again, there are much nicer courses in the area that I can spend...
Read moreI came to this golf course with a group of 4 on a Sunday morning. It was our first time, so we called the clubhouse a couple of days before to get an idea of when to arrive. We got to the course a little before 10:00am and there weren't any golfers ahead of us or behind us. The gentlemen at the clubhouse told us it was $40 plus an extra $9 for a cart which is absolutely insane! We traveled about 40 minutes to get there so we didn't have much of a choice at that moment. After paying, the first hole attendant kept telling us to hurry up and said we were taking too much time to get ready. Oddly enough there still wasn't anyone behind us so we were a bit confused as to why he was rushing us. As we were finishing up the course, a group of golfers caught up to us. We were putting on the second to last hole, when all of a sudden we hear the group behind us scream, "Let's go!" several times. We never had a ranger tell us to speed up and we were playing scramble so in reality our pace of play was cut in half. Never in my life have I ever felt so unwelcome and distressed at a golf course. You guys really need to get...
Read moreI was waiting on line to sign-in for golf when the individual below with the bad review came into the building. Apparently he did not have the proper credentials (county card, ID, or booked reservation - I'm not sure) to play and was enraged that he was not being allowed to play. Loud, cursing, dropping F-bombs. In over 50 years of playing golf I've never seen someone as out-of-control and inappropriate as this person. Tom - the Manager at Orchard Hills - remained professional the entire time, explaining the situation to this person, never raising his voice. Finally he was told to leave and did so with more cursing. I've played Orchard Hills many times and my experiences with Tom and his staff have been nothing but professional. This individual was obviously having a bad day but there really was no excuse for...
