Buckle up cause this is gonna be long. I really like Tri-C a LOT! I feel like the majority of the professors are just realistic people with realistic expectations and realistic flexibility, which is important to me because 1) I’m am 27 years old, I do not need some stickler telling me “this is how the world works” I know how the world works, I don’t need your insufferable micromanagement. And 2) in the adult world, work runs over, traffic jams happen, kids get sick, etc. and I don’t feel like any of my teachers have ever punished me for the things life does to us that aren’t our fault. My professors have always helped me and even the tough ones were never beyond reasonable discussions. It’s affordable and I feel like I’m getting as good of an education as I was when I was attending university. Tri c is not cutting any corners. I will say that there is a serious lack of nighttime opportunity for adults wishing to return to school. You can take online courses if you want but the most you’re gonna get out of those classes is “read the text, take a test, write a paper”. The online courses lack in stimulating content and I think the professors forget that a lot of the students taking online classes are adults working 40+ hour weeks who still have to cook, clean, shower, etc. so being obligated to read 40+ pages a week PER CLASS is just completely non feasible. Also, what are you even doing as an educator if your idea of teaching is making people read a book and spew back out some random and generic answers without any structure or relevant application? I wish also that Tri-C would reevaluate some of the text they are prescribing as some of the textbooks I’ve been through here are rather poorly authored, redundant, and excessive. I would love to take in person classes but the options for evenings are so ridiculously limited that you are mostly forced to take online courses. This is overall an excellent institution with EXCELLENT STUDENT RESOURCES. I just wish they had more night time...
Read moreTri-C is a learning institution Cuyahoga County can be very proud of. It is a fantastic resource for any age group. I've had classes with age ranges from 18 to 80.
As an adult, I wanted to add a new skill set in order to make a career change. Tri-C provided everything I needed in a degree program at an incredibly affordable price.
Nearly every instructor for every class I took had some level of professional experience in the courses they were teaching. This proved to be valuable as they were generally able to channel my learning experience to the life skills I already possessed, while still being able to work well with students just out of high school. Nearly every class I took was grounded in real world experience.
The Counseling, Financial Aid and Career Guidance offices are effective and well run. Tri-C is STRONGLY oriented toward getting students working or moving on to the next level of their education after graduation. This point can't be emphasized enough.
The learning resources and labs provided by Tri-C were top notch and always available. The locations of the campuses are convenient to everyone in Cuyahoga County. Most of my classes were at the West Campus in Parma, which is a very good facility with plenty of open space and parking. Convenient RTA public transportation drops you off right at the front door.
As I progressed through my two year program, I found myself in classes with many of the same people from earlier classes. I was happy to have made many good friends, some of whom I work with today.
Although I graduated several years ago, I have gone back a few times to pick up classes to further enhance my skill set. I will continue to do so for as long as I'm a resident of...
Read moreIf I could give this college a millions stars, I would. I have been going to Tri-C for two years now and I wish I did not have to leave. I wish this was not just a college to get your associates at, if I could I would stay to get my bachelors. I am so sad that is not the case. I came to Tri- C to get my foot in the door and figure out my life. I have had nothing but wonderful experiences here. The word you will hear a lot at Tri-C is "success" and yes, you really do get set up for success. There is literally a person for every single thing you need help with. The college provides so much for their students it's crazy. I also think Western campus is the best campus, but thats just me. I have loved all of my professors, I love the Cafe, Java City, the library, the TLC (computer lab) and so much more. The campus is so easy to get around. The book store was just renovated. Theres a transfer center, financial aid office, campus security just off of the center of campus, the parking lots are great. There is nothing to not love about this school. Enrollment is super easy too. Best part is obviously tuition. I would recommend to everyone to start out at Tri-C. It is the best place to get your foot in the door whether you know or do not know what you want to do. Again, I am so sad that I have to leave and get my bachelors elsewhere because this is community college. I love Tri-C so much! Also on a very important note, the Dean is really supportive with equality amongst students. EVERYONE is respected, accepted, and...
