Peculiar Family Dental — Local services in Peculiar

Looks like the good reviews are concerning Dr Dimitri who no longer works at this office. Here is my review of the new current dentist Dr Mathew Tinnel who has taken Dr. Shpak position. I went in for 1st visit x-rays & cleaning. The hygienist who had just returned from Cabo vacation started taking my x-rays. I don’t think she really knew what she was doing. She kept re-taking pictures multiple times at the same location in my mouth. She then used a 3-D imaging camera to image my mouth. I Noticed right away the camera did not have a plastic cover protecting it from germs. She then proceeded to polish my upper teeth then stopped and did not polish the lower teeth. She never scraped the tartar off my teeth. Usually, your teeth get scraped for tartar then polished. I noticed dental picks were placed on the tray in an unorganized manner. Some of the dental picks were lying on an unprotected table surface. I was really beginning to question the cleanliness of this place in my mind. The dentist Dr. Tillman came into examine me. He checked the depth of my gums and did a light scraping of tartar between my teeth. He was rough. At one point being grossed out and ready to leave, I was thinking just get through this and never come back!

It gets worse. My wife was in for a few visits getting crown work this same week. The temporary crown fell out after a few hours being home. She became very ill with a stomach virus a couple days after dentist visits and had an ER visit early Saturday morning. We strongly suspect she caught this virus from the dentist visits. ER Diagnosis was a bad stomach virus. We are now left with a $6,000 ER visit bill. Can’t prove she got sick from the dentist, but it's fishy she was very sick shortly after those dentist visits.

On top of all that the dentist submitted wrong billing info to our insurance.

Unfortunately, I would not recommend Peculiar...

The staff there are nice but I've never had a worse dental experience. The doctor dripped stuff all over my face throughout my multiple procedures. It took him over three hours to sit a permanent crown and to make a new temporary. I felt like he was never gental on my teeth and It was also very apparent when he was getting flustered and aggitated which happened at least once each time I visited. I'd prefer a calm and composed doctor operating on my teeth. The worst part of it all is that after all the trouble, my teeth hurt more now than they did before I had the work done... I'm now having to find a new dentist to fix.

!!!UPDATE!!! The doctor at peculiar dental also told me that my teeth were in horrible shape and that I would need lots of new crowns and fillings.

I just had an exam at Modern dentistry in Belton, and the doctor there said said I have no cavities and the only work I needed was to correct the teeth that had crowns put on them by the doctor at peculiar dental. I'm glad I listened to my gut and did not go back to...

I'm so happy we found Dr. Dimitri Shpak! Our long time previous local dentist retired. We have gone to several other local dentists since, but just was not happy with the services we received at any of them. We are completely happy now with the service Dr. Shpak and his team have done for us. Husband has had several implants done so far and cleaning. He is very happy with them and the wonderful service he received. I have only had cleaning done so far, but am planning on having a couple of old crowns replaced. The hygienist that did my cleaning did an excellent job! She took her time and did them right. Oh my gosh, my teeth seriously have never looked so great as they did when she was done. I couldnt believe my eyes. Very best cleaning I have EVER had. His entire team is very knowledgeable, courteous and prompt in filing insurance paperwork.
