BUYER BEWARE!!! My experience with this company was so awful I told them to keep my $$$ (over $300 for a used dryer and delivery). Not to mention the dryer they took away when they delivered the one I purchased from them. Yes I know, I didn't do myself any favors but it was so unpleasant and upsetting trying to deal with these people, in the heat of the moment I decided feeling disrespected and being talked to like a lesser being was just not worth it. So I hope they at least pay some of it forward to someone who truly needs it. 1.) Timer went out on my dryer at home. Appliance repairman suggested I purchase a used dryer as the repair would cost as much or more. 2.)I purchased a used one at Appliance Depot. My bad, I didn't read the warranty and took the 30 day guarantee to mean I would have a working dryer or they would fix it and after 30 days I'd have to pay a service fee of $50. 3.) Timer on dryer didn't work. This is what caused me to purchase another. 4.) Dryer was delivered. I asked delivery fellow if he made sure it was working. He said yes, he turned it on and got hot. Which was true, but turns out it just wouldn't turn off with the timer. The dial didn't even move. 5.) Called the store and owner's wife told me they would have no way to deliver another due to upcoming vacation. No mention of fixing it. I offered to keep it until they were able to deliver another and she said no and wanted me to bring it back. We are senior citizens, not possible. Then she called back and said she would pick one out and send another. I trusted in that, Surely they would be extra sure a second one would be in good working order. 6.) 2nd dryer was delivered. It squeals something terrible and I thought it over and decided I no longer trusted their service. I was assured their products were tested and approved before even being put on the floor. Two dryers delivered, two strike outs. I decided the savings was not worth the hassle and I would just like my money back and would purchase a new dryer at. 7.) Went to store to get a refund and set up pick up of the 2nd dryer. Wife said hub was at Dr. and he would call me later. 8.) Owner called and said IF we brought the dryer back to store and it "checked out", he would refund my money. I questioned what IF it "checked out" meant, he was very vague. He stated he didn't know what could have been done to it since it left his store. After explaining we are senior citizens and cannot wrestle that thing up basement stairs, he said it would be $50 to come get it. I said I already paid for delivery and it wasn't my fault his dryers didn't work. He also suggested I let them fix it. Welllll.... I can't say I have any confidence in their repair service. I got two dryers in two weeks time that did not properly operate after being assured all appliances are tested and approved before sale. 9.) He told me that I wanted all my eggs laid out in a basket for me. Wow! I said no, I wanted a working dryer and I paid for it in good faith and also paid the delivery fee with no problem . 10.) When my significant other stated that we did not want a 3rd dryer that we tried two, the owner said "I have trouble hearing sarcasm". 11.) My significant other also told me (he knew how stressed out I was getting) to forget it that he would contact his lawyer, the owner called him a smart *ss. 12.) I told him I would resolve the entire issue. They can keep my money for the dryer I purchased and the delivery fee, and keep the dryer they hauled away. I hope they can sleep well at night. I would never recommend them to anyone I know.
To address the owners response... He proved my points. Abusive, insulting and dishonest. I never called them to service my original dryer. And I NEVER once screamed at him. Bold faced lie. As for wanting everything I simply wanted to purchase a decent used dryer and have it delivered and hooked up. NEITHER of them worked properly No squeaks....yes squeals. Nice comment about no friends. Abusive much? But hey... However you need to justify your shoddy business...
Read moreMy shopping and purchasing experience here was good and I wrote an honest, positive review for it. Post-purchase has been very disappointing. I made some mistakes: READ the WARRANTY before you pull the trigger. It stipulates that if you have a problem you must bring the appliance in or pay a $50 service fee if they come to fix it. Delivery isn't free, either, so understand that if you have a problem, delivery + service call will add at least $80 to the cost of your appliance. I did read it, but my mistake was expecting that that the washer & dryer would work as thoroughly inspected and repaired machines. The standard of inspection seems to be "we ran it and it washed (or dried) clothes." My washer did wash clothes, but it took 20 minutes to fill due to a clogged fill valve. The part was replaced free but I did pay the $50 to have them come out. A few days past the warranty period (30 days) we discovered that the dryer timer continues to click indefinitely after a cycle is completed. Its not a big thing...but should have been found before it went out the door. I made the mistake of coming into the store to discuss my problem. I explained that I thought it a fair expectation that a machine would work properly out of the store. I understood my obligation, but thought that I might get some consideration since it didn't work right out of the store. The owners were very defensive and I was told (publicly): "This guy expects the WORLD!" and "we have no idea what you may have done to that machine once it leaves here." Wow. What would I have done to a washer that Appliance Depot delivered and installed?? Not so much as an apology for my inconvenience. They may comment on this review that I was angry...but I wasn't until I got these responses. I walked out thinking that it was a mistake dealing with this business. By the time I paid the delivery fee and the $50 to repair the washer, I realized that I could have gotten a brand new basic washer (with a full warranty) for about $50 more than what I paid for an old "refurbished" one. My...
Read moreNeeded washer and dryer for a house weâre renovating. Wanted a direct drive traditional washer (Whirlpool/Kenmore/Maytag). Kept checking for one at Appliance Depot and another used appliance dealer in Peoria. Depot got our business because: The store was clean, pleasant and orderly. The appliances were clean and well-presented. They eventually had just what we wanted. You have to be a little patient when hunting an older, rebuilt washer, but they usually had a few more to see every week. They didnât hesitate to offer delivery to our town 12 miles away and their delivery charge includes installation. Nice people. Friendly, helpful. We will see if the appliances perform as nice as they look. But our experience in shopping for them at appliance depot was positive. Appliance Depot also carries Speed Queens. If a new washer was in our budget, weâd have grabbed one. Our other house has a Speed Queen washer that is head and shoulders above any other new junk on the market. If you want the best, go have a look at one. Pricey,...
