8th Street Cafe — Restaurant in Pekin

8th street Cafe opened this week so we stopped by to check it out. I seen people talking about it on Facebook so I'm sure many people were eager to try it out as well. It's definitely a small cafe but I feel if business goes great the owner could look into expanding. Right when we walked in, I noticed there were about 20 tables and they were all filled. We didn't have to wait too long for a table but did have to wait a while before we ordered, they were busy though so we were understanding. I tried the pulled pork and to be honest, I hate to say it but it was a miss for me. The pork was in huge chunks and a bit cold in some parts. I wanted to love it so I was bummed. My husband got the chicken n waffles and it was hot n ready. I also got the broccoli and cheese soup and I thought that was great it was nice and hot! I gave the atmosphere 3 stars because it was so small and so loud that I had to move over closer to my husband so I could hear him. It is cute though, the decorations make it homey. We might come back and visit if we're in the area, although we do like your EP location much better. Congrats on the new business and we wish...

Me and my brother went tonight for the first time. It is a small little comfort food restaurant, which I think they'll wish they moved somewhere bigger (The reason for 3 star atmosphere). But with that being said, I had the hot beef, with the mashed potatoes/gravy on white bread. The pros was the good flavor, the cons were that the gravy was only warm and potatoes maybe whipped too much? The veggie soup was awesome, but a bit too salty and I like salt. My brother had a HUGE order of chicken strips that were more like chicken breasts, with a small order of fries and veggies. The chicken was awesome, but could use a bit of salt and pepper for a bit of a zing. We brought home two pieces of banana cream pie, which I have not ate, yet. Will we go back? Yes... Well, I ate the banana cream pie...there is no banana and there is no banana flavor. It is primarily cream..I had 4 bites and it went in the garbage. Sorry! I would like to say that I am so happy we have a full service restaurant that stays...

The food was fresh!! Decent portions, and their cake is really fresh and very good texture, moist, soft, fluffy just yummy and it wasnt overly sweet either (I got a red velvet cake) and I got the slice of cake for a semi decent price. Now service slacked just a tad time wise but in general it was really good service, our waitress had a really good attitude, did her job well even though it was super busy, very personable lady!! It was a good experience all in all. Highly recommend checking them...
