Chical's is my go-to for cheap cigarettes (cheaper by $2 or more per pack!), and super cute clothes, boots, purses, jewelry, and accessories. The fashion section of the shop is typically on the pricey side, however, the product quality is top-notch, and they always have sales going on with clearance items at great prices. Be sure to save your receipt for purchases in case you need to return or exchange, however, because they really stick to that policy.
They also sell farm and horse equipment and accessories, which seem to be priced reasonably, though my basis for comparison is the saddleries I used to patronize near Chicago, which were naturally more expensive.
I've seen some reviews which claim the staff is unfriendly, and I'm not sure they are fair assessments. Every interaction I've had with numerous members of their staff has been friendly, helpful, and professional. In fact, my most recent visit left me sad for the gal at the register, who told me, "Ma'am, you're the nicest customer I've had all day," which leads me to believe that quite a lot of folks must go in there with the weight of the day on their shoulders or in an otherwise sour mood, which is then projected upon the employees. Which, in turn, may make an employee feel they must behave rather standoffish in order to guard against grumpy, demanding, or negative customer attitudes.
When we go here, or any other retail establishment for that matter, especially around the holidays, we have to try to remember that the people who are serving us are also human and have emotions. They woke up that morning and chose to go into work to take care of our needs and earn a living. They don't deserve to be abused, no matter how badly our own day has gone. So, please keep this in mind if you come across any negative reviews of this place. If you walk in and mind your manners, they're going to treat you like gold. But, if you walk in and start treating these folks like you're the only customer who matters and talk down to them, don't expect anyone to be clamoring to take care of you and then leave with a sense that the business owed you better service, because the attitude you bring in is going to dictate how well the visit pans out. And not just here;...
Read moreI rarely post about businesses. However, my daughter was offered a job at Chical Haystack in Bosque Farms. She went in to fill out all the paper work and needed assistance from me, her mom (due to a learning disability). The manager found out she has a hard time reading and recinded the job offer on the spot. It was escalated to the main manager in charge and they too agreed with the manager to withdraw the job offer. I spoke with amber on the phone who was very unprofessional and rude and hung up on me when I asked her for her last name. Amber also told me that she was the âhighest point of contactâ and there was no one else I could speak with. This place discriminated against someone who has always supported and shopped at this store. My daughter had literally spent thousands of her own hard earned money on supplies for her horses. We always try and support local businesses. Itâs hard to believe that this place openly discriminates for disabilities. Iâm very disappointed in this establishment and will never support this place again. I will be pursuing this further and hope no one else has to experience this! Please take your business to Old Mill where they are much more...
Read moreHonestly I am struggling to give 4 stars but I do believe it just barely pulls that off. I have gone to this place my whole life for a variety of reasons. I feel like they are very high priced for their apparel and anything like that as well as their saddles and tack. However they have always had a really good cigarette prices, there are two other cigarette places nearby that are comparable. Chicals stays in first or second place consistently for cost. Their hay/alfalfa is always good quality but considering the times and the economy it is overpriced as well. It used to be one of the best places to get hay out of convenience. It likely still is if you live nearby and are not going to buy a severe amount of bulk. Overall if you want cigarettes or hay you're not doing too bad by going here especially if it's convenient. If you want apparel or saddles and tack you might be much better off being patient and purchasing online. Good luck in your...
