This is not a farmer’s market.!!!!!!!! This business is operating an unapproved composting business that has impacted the community for miles in every direction. There is a cease and desist, community members have health issues, and overall air quality is affected.
The smell is like spoiled milk left in the sun and fermented trash. One small wiff will make you actively gag or vomit. The smell alone prevents residents like myself from having the ability to open our windows to enjoy the cool air after an oppressive summer. Our children will not go outside to play.
Yes Laveen was a farming community and some people did not like the farm smell……..this is not anything like a farm! I would rather have the smell of manure and animals in 120° heat over what this place is putting into our air. Many members of the community have had upper respiratory issues, and many of us are undergoing testing by our doctors to figure out why. The infections are not going away and are unlike anything experienced in the past. Community members reporting respiratory infections and breathing issues that have doctors baffled.
Any advocates for composting, such as myself, should look to Arizona worm farm as an example of sustainable, smell conscious, profitable, and not community impacting model of business.
I hope whoever these owners are understand that this community supports small businesses, but you crossed the line when you mess with our...
Read moreDear Growers Market,
I am writing on behalf of the residents of Laveen to express our growing concern regarding the unpleasant and overpowering odor emanating from your business operations. This odor has become a significant issue in our community, particularly during the nighttime hours when the smell intensifies and blankets the area.
It is evident that this odor is not only disruptive, but it appears to be accompanied by a strange layer of fog that settles over the neighborhood in the evening. Many of us believe that this may be linked to the toxins being released into the environment, and we are alarmed by the impact this could be having on our health and well-being.
The people of Laveen deserve peace and the ability to enjoy their homes without the constant intrusion of noxious smells. It is distressing to return home after a long day, only to be met with this unsettling atmosphere. We urge you to address these issues immediately and take the necessary steps to reduce or eliminate the sources of these odors and any potentially harmful emissions.
We trust that you will consider the welfare of our community and act swiftly to resolve this matter. Laveen residents deserve better, and we sincerely hope that you will work toward a solution that ensures a healthier, more pleasant environment for all.
Thank you for your attention to this...
Read moreGrowers Market is engaging in the irresponsible practice of dumping brewer's wastewater onto their compost piles, resulting in a foul odor that permeates over two miles from their illegally zoned composting facility in Laveen. These aren't just "farm smells"—this is toxic, rotting garbage polluting our air.
What's even more devastating is how it affects our loved ones. My three-year-old niece has asthma, and she can't even play outside anymore because the air quality is so poor. She watches other children from the window, longing to join them, but it's too dangerous for her fragile health.
This operation is situated among established and newly developed residential neighborhoods, which Growers Market knowingly chose for their unpermitted site. The negative impact extends to local restaurants and businesses, as customers are deterred by the unbearable smell of decaying waste. Residents feel powerless and unheard by local officials while suffering from the toxic pollution being emitted into the air.
It seems that profit has taken precedence over the health and well-being of Laveen's citizens, who deserve clean air and a safe environment. It's devastating to see our community and our children's health compromised like this. It's imperative that action be taken to shut down this facility immediately for the sake of community...
