I've had a horrible experience with Moon Valley. If you're reading this you're probably doing so wondering if you should go there or not. Maybe for some small plants, or a big project. Let me explain why I left 2 stars. If you want the short story, they're very uncoordinated and not very forgiving, imo, if you don't end up getting what you asked for. We had been there a couple times, mainly looking for small plants and panning what plants we'd like for when our new home build was finished. They had a great sale going so we bought about 15 trees for install when our new home build was completed. We continually told them it's a new home build and it wouldn't be ready for about another year. Over the course of the construction we continually got calls from Moon Valley saying they were coming out for delivery on such and such date, or "I'm on my way out there do you have the tree locations marked?". They hadn't even given us the little flags to mark the sites. Flash forward to the home being done and us wanting the trees installed. We went back in to schedule and pick out a few additional plants and trees. The couple of salesmen we had already been talking to weren't there any longer. The new one we got introduced to was a typical fast-talking salesman which we weren't very comfortable with. Nice guy, there's no reason to name him, he's just doing his job. We told him we want a bunch of trees to create a wall and sound barrier from neighbors and a main road. We walked through and he guided us on what trees to get and what not. He said the ones we picked weren't the best for where we lived. He even came out to the property. We discussed, very plainly and openly, that we wanted bushy trees to block out sound and sight. That's key to this review. He assured us he'd pick the best trees, would have the best delivery team for plant install, and would be there personally to make sure the install went great. For reference we spent over $20k in plants and trees. We were spending the weekend in Sedona and got a call that they were on their way to deliver. They weren't supposed to be there until the next day. So we hurried and got back to Phoenix to meet them. When we arrived there was no salesperson and all of the trees were being out in the wrong location. The installers were very nice and professional, I'm sure they weren't happy with me. But I told them the right locations and they moved them. With all the chaos I didn't really stop and look at the trees and let it sink in on how the trees actually looked. And this being our first home and time doing this, I didn't really now what to expect. Maybe the trees would grow once planted. After giving it a bit we were just more and more disappointed with the "sticks with some leaves" they planted. Some of the trees came out fine and still are. But the bulk of the trees are sticks with leaves, and one of them is already dead. NOWHERE near the goal we wanted for the trees. Not only do they not function how we wanted, they look horrible. We finally brought it up to them. I haven't talked to the salesman cause he was very unresponsive and I lost trust in him. So went to someone else that was very nice and tried very hard to accommodate us. But management would have to approve anything replanted. Basically since the "sticks with leaves" isn't what we wanted they gave us the option for hedges to replace the trees. But it would be $60,000!!!! Even with one tree dying in approx 6 months they still only try to upsale us on other options. It'll take 15 years for the trees to reach the foliage we asked for, and they're ok with that apparently. They've definitely lost a customer in us and I can't recommend them to anyone. Try multiple nurseries before deciding on Moon Valley if you can. I'll include some picks of the "big beautiful trees that will block out the neighbors and road noise" they installed.

Yesterday, we came home to find that a large chunk of our Palo Verde tree had broken off and fell into the street leaving traffic a narrow space to pass and came close, but didn’t hit my neighbor’s car. Once the fallen portion was cleaned up, we realized our tree was now leaning towards our house and will need to be fully taken down. A bit flustered by this unexpected issue, I ran my two kids over in a rush to Moon Valley Nurseries in Phoenix. I explained the situation to Bryce Mackey and that we were in an HOA that required approval of the tree before it goes in as well as the fact we wanted a low maintenance and shading tree to replace the old one. He was very calming and knowledgable about my HOA and area and brought me (and my two kids) to see the trees that would be approved. We found a Chilean Mesquite Tree that fit the budget and will offer us some shade right from the start. He was so easy to work with and even had coloring pages to keep my kids busy and entertained while I worked with him on the paperwork and payment. I appreciated this since I ran out with them and was unprepared. Also, as we toured the nursery, he took us in a golf cart so we weren’t walking around during the hottest time of the day and my kids thought this was the greatest thing ever! We are excited about our new tree and would highly recommend working with Bryce.

I have been to this location about 6 times in the past two months. I am a investor and buy trees and plants for the fix and flips I do. The first time I came to this nursery I wondered around for a good twenty minutes trying to find someone to help me. I ran into a guy hiding in the tree's smoking. Which I don't mind we all have to take a break here and there. He quickly put it out and asked me if I needed any help. He introduced himself as the general manager and his name was Arnie. I thought it was quite odd that such a young guy was running the store that there was no one to be found in. He showed me some plants and I had my landscaper there loading up some plants on a couple of carts. We went back to the smaller trees and he gave me a few recommendations and I picked up 6 of the black tub trees from the back. We were talking about bigger trees and he told me I couldn't get as good of a deal on those. He made me a screaming deal on 24 shrubs and 6 trees for only $300 but I had to pay cash, I didn't mind cause it was saving me money. I asked him if there was tax and he said no and helped me load up the trees and threw in 6 bags of mulch for free. Once my landscaper finished up that property I went back for another property. This one needed twice the amount of plants and trees. I waited for Arnie to come back to the front from helping a customer and he had a few things to do and had another guy get me all the plants. I didn't catch the kids name but he was a shorter younger guy. We got everything then he talked to Arnie about what I had got and he told me it was going to be $500. Which I thought was a really good deal cause most of the plants were $20 and the trees were close to $100 each. I gave him the cash in front of the office and he put it in his pocket. So the reason why I am writing this bad review wasn't because of the price or quality of the plants it was the last time I went in there and spoke to Arnie, I had asked if I could get receipts for my last 5 purchases totaling over $2000 so I could have them for tax purposes. He told me with the deal I got I couldn't get any receipts and should have my landscaper write me one for the plants but my landscaper didn't buy the plants he just planted them. I don't know what kind of business doesn't give receipts and only takes cash. The thing that bothers me the most is I spent over $2000 in a month and the manager treated me like trash when I asked for receipts for the last purchases. I asked if I could speak to his manager to get some receipts and he looked up some stuff in the computer and gave me some receipts from a different company on trees I didn't even purchase and said thats all he could give me cause the systems crashed and they lost all their data. He said that he doesn't have a manager he runs the store. If you are conducting business...

Their tagline is "We'll make the yard, you make the memories." What actually happened was they made zero effort to try and help us make the yard, and the only memory I have is that of a complete lack of professionalism and concern for the customer on their part.

First time using this company. We were told purchase would be ready yesterday, had our landscaper go to pick it up. Wasn't ready, so he told them he would come back the next day. He returned today. They continued to make him wait for the pickup, told him they had other things to do. He waited for over 30 min still with no assistance, my wife called to inquire and was answered with a curt "we've got the manager involved" and was then promptly hung up on. Eventually the manager (who I'm grateful for as it sounds like he may be the only one actually working there) just went with my landscaper and they loaded all the plants themselves with no help from the other workers. Tried to call the customer service line for Arizona listed on their website and was met with an automated voice message telling me "Sorry we missed you. Please leave your name, numbrer, etc." So in my first experience with this company, which is quite expensive that we purchased several items from:

Didn't have items ready when they said they would Continued to not have items ready the next day despite being told by my landscaper he would be back that day to pick them up Were rude to my wife when she called on the phone and hung up on her Offered no help to my landscaper to acquire the purchased items to the point the manager and my landscaper had to load up all the items themselves Use an automated customer service line that immediately sends you to voicemail rendering me completely unable to voice my concerns.

We will not be using their services again. Highly disappointed in the lack of concern or care for the customer on multiple fronts, as well as the outright rudeness demonstrated to my wife over the phone. The way in which customers are assisted and spoken to is a reflection of a company's quality work and their pride in it in which Moon Valley Nurseries...
