Worth the trip and then some! I’m from Texas and made a point to stop at this nursery while visiting Arizona—and I’m so glad I did. I haven’t seen anything like what they’ve built at the Phoenix Desert Nursery. It’s clear this place is the result of 40 years of passion and experience. The owners really know their stuff, and it shows in every part of the nursery.

The selection of native desert plants is unreal. Rows and rows of healthy, thriving cacti—many grown right there on site. They even rehabilitate saguaros, which is something you don’t see just anywhere. The whole nursery is big, open, and easy to wander through. No cramped aisles or mess—just space to explore.

Prices are affordable, especially considering the quality. I could pay triple in Texas for the same plants and most I couldn’t find. And the owners are super knowledgeable without being pushy. If you care about desert plants or just want to see something special, this place is 100%...

I called the owner, Richard, at 8 am on Sunday and after just one ring he said he'd be there until 1130 that day. My girlfriend and I pull in to his fenced in potted cactus field and were amazed by the quantity and diversity of his cacti and succulents. We quickly chose three plants and he gave us all the relevant information pertaining to the individual plant, how to maintain it, and answered all our questions pertaining to climates, repotting, watering, ensuring proper growth, etc. It was immediately obvious that Richard was very passionate about what he does and gave us very honest answers too, ensuring we correctly secured our cacti for transportation. It was my husbands and I first time at Phoenix Desert Nursery as we were just looking around for some front yard projects. Richard approached us, welcomed us and asked if we needed anything to let them know. Nicholas was extremely knowledgeable on cacti that we left the nursery and came back to buy 10 totem poles.
