Went here twice recently and unfortunately had negative experiences both times, specifically in regards to getting my order wrong both times.
About 2 weeks ago I went and it was my first time there. Beautiful grounds and nice breakfast area to eat and explore. I ordered breakfast for my partner and I, and two orange juices. I asked how much orange juice was per cup. The person at the register seemed unsure, but said about $4 each. Looking at my receipt afterwards, I was charged over $16 for both cups of orange juice. That’s double per cup than I was told…
I let it go and waited for our food. It took quite a while for food to be ready, and when I picked up our order, my meal was wrong (ordered pulled pork omelette but got pulled pork tacos). I figured it was a simple mistake and requested the omelette I ordered. They apologized for the mistake and said they would promptly fix my order. It took another 25 minutes to get my correct order, and I had to check-in with them on the status of it 3x. They apologized for the long wait, but I saw multiple people after me ordering their meals and getting them before I got my corrected meal. I understand things take time, but it was frustrating how long I’d been waiting for both the first incorrect meal, then for it to be corrected, all when multiple groups of people ordering after I requested my corrected meal received their meals before I could get my corrected meal.
By the time I got my correct meal, my partner had finished theirs and we had to leave because we had other things planned this day and had already been there about an hour or so at this point. I had a few bites before leaving and eventually finished it later, but honestly the food was just ok, nothing special.
Then yesterday, we decided to give The Farm another try, thinking the first time with issues was a one-off. This time we ordered breakfast to-go during a weekday (previous experience was on a weekend).
We ordered the brisket breakfast sandwich to-go (my partner had this last time and said it was good) and planned on splitting it, as my partner said it was big enough to share. We ordered it and picked it up. The container had a clear top and I could see that it was clearly a breakfast sandwich, so I proceeded on my way home because I had a meeting to get to. After my meeting, I sat down to eat and opened the container to find a breakfast sandwich with fried egg (over hard, no runny yolk at all), some arugula, and a couple slices of tomato - NO BRISKET!
Annoyed that this was the second time I’d received an incorrect order here, I called to alert them of the error, but they had since closed (closed at 11am). I left a voicemail detailing my order number and the error, and requested a call back to discuss. I took pictures of the sandwich and the receipt (clearly indicating a brisket sandwich).
The next morning, I hadn’t received a callback regarding my voicemail from the day before, so I called again to speak with someone. The person I spoke with (didn’t provide a name) quickly apologized and said they would refund the money to the card, but they were very casual about the error and it gave me the impression this is not uncommon for them.
All in all, the grounds seem to be the only worthwhile thing about The Farm. The food is just ok, nothing special for the prices they charge, and they consistently get orders wrong and don’t seem surprised about it or like they care to make your experience better because of their error.
I tried to give The Farm multiple tries after hearing some good things from friends, but it’s safe to say I will not be returning to The Farm...
Read moreI've been coming to The Farm at South Mountain for years and always try to make a stop when I'm in this part of the Valley. It’s such a unique and special place—there’s nothing quite like it in Phoenix. The setting is peaceful and picturesque, with beautiful gardens, towering pecan trees, and charming pathways that make for a lovely walk before or after your meal. They even have chicken coops and scenic spots perfect for weddings. Many of the ingredients served at the restaurants come straight from the gardens, which adds to the farm-to-table charm.
One of the things that sets The Farm apart is how they’ve separated the dining experiences—there’s a spot for breakfast, another for lunch, and one for dinner. I've never been for dinner but have always wanted to go. For lunch, you order at a small venue near the front of the property and then head outside to find a table under the shade of the pecan trees or on the patio. It’s a casual, relaxed atmosphere.
That said, I was pretty disappointed with my recent lunch experience. While the setting was still beautiful, the food felt overpriced and underwhelming. My chicken salad sandwich on multigrain bread completely fell apart as I tried to eat it—the bread just crumbled, leaving me with a handful of chicken salad. The strawberry salad was tasty but small and lacking in variety. The iced tea was not cold, so when they added ice and served it, it was melted and watered down by the time we got to our table. Everything felt a bit minimalist for the price point.
Speaking of prices, lunch for three was over $80—with sandwiches at $18, small salads the same, and cookies over $5 each. And while I don’t mind tipping for good service, the presence of tip jars felt out of place when there's no real service being provided—you order at the counter, pick up your food from a window, and bus your own table.
I’ll always have a soft spot for The Farm and will probably continue to visit for the atmosphere, but I really hope they reevaluate the value and experience of their lunch offerings. It’s still a special place, but this time, the food didn’t...
Read moreFrom the first time you visit The Farm at South Mountain, you’ll immediately fall in love with its lush greenery, rustic charm and delicious farm-to-table food. The venue is a lovely hidden gem just off of the I-10 and 32nd Street, which makes it a perfect “getaway” for anyone looking to get married in an outdoor venue minus the desert vibe. It’s a picture-perfect place that will make for the most incredible wedding photos!
The team at The Farm (including their catering service Santa Barbara Catering) is friendly and helpful and will do their best to get you exactly what you need. Our coordinator Kristen regularly checked in on us to see if we had any questions or concerns and she was always quick to respond whenever we did! She helped my now-husband and I work out all the fine details so that our wedding ceremony and reception were exactly as we envisioned.
This venue is also perfect for kids! Majority of our wedding guests had little ones and the kids had an absolute blast running around in the grass, playing cornhole and staring in awe at Homer the giant tortoise. The environment alone was enough to keep many of them entertained before the dance floor opened up during the reception.
The Farm is definitely one of the more expensive venues in Phoenix, and the prices will begin to add up once you start making upgrades (chairs, linens, lawn games, etc.) and they do limit some of the vendors you can choose, but in the end my husband and I couldn’t be happier with how our wedding turned out. We’d say it was absolutely...
