I recently underwent MOHS surgery with Dr. Ramin Fathi, and I am pleased with the entire experience and outcome. As a woman in my 40s and a professional who is in the public eye, I researched extensively to find a surgeon who prioritizes optimal results, minimal scarring, and a comprehensive approach to skin health and prevention. Dr. Fathi was my top choice.
From the initial consultation, Dr. Fathi's expertise and commitment to patient care were evident. His office provided educational videos about the procedure prior to our consultation, and during our meeting, he patiently answered all my questions. He also went beyond the typical sunscreen and shade-seeking advice, offering personalized recommendations for long-term skin health and prevention. His calm demeanor and genuine care immediately put me at ease.
The surgery itself went well, and Dr. Fathi's precision and attention to detail were truly remarkable. The incision on my nose was meticulously closed, and I'm confident the cancer is removed. Itās clear that he takes immense pride in achieving the best aesthetic outcomes, which is especially important for such a visible area. Additionally, the medical assistants before and during the procedure were competent, professional, and kind, which further enhanced my comfort and confidence throughout the process.
Beyond the procedure, Dr. Fathi provided a thorough aftercare plan to ensure optimal healing and scar minimization. His results-oriented approach, combined with his genuine desire to help patients maintain their skin health, truly sets him apart.
I have also seen Savanna Howe for other dermatological procedures, and she is equally impressive. Savanna is competent, personable, and provides thoughtful recommendations tailored to each diagnosis to help achieve the best possible results. Her professionalism and attention to detail are evident in every interaction.
I highly recommend Dr. Fathi and Savanna Howe to anyone seeking MOHS surgery or other dermatological care. Their combination of expertise, artistry, and patient-centered care is unparalleled. As someone who values both aesthetics and skin health, Iām so grateful to have found them and feel confident in the health and appearance of my skin...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was biopsy proven diagnosed with a Basal Cell Carcinoma (BSC) by a local Dermatologist in Southern Colorado and recommended a MOHS procedure to remove it. The BSC was on my face below eye and near nose. The local Colorado practice was booked out 2 months on MOHS. I wanted to move quicker on the removal. Being in pharmaceutical, biotech and genetic sales for over 25 years I've had a lot of professional interaction with Physicians. I had an idea of what type of Physician I would search out. I have worked with Mayo Clinic in the past, so I looked up Dermatologists who do MOHS who have a connection to Mayo. Dr. Fathi is a part time professor at Mayo AZ (not in MOHS from my understanding). I contacted Mayo asking about Dr. Fathi's clinic and how schedule. Mayo got back to and said for MOHS to reach out to him at his Private Practice. I had a video consult with PSD and then headed to PHX for the MOHS the next week.
I choose Dr. Fathi instead of waiting for the local Colorado Dermatologist for a couple reasons other than my desired timeline mentioned above. 1: Dr. Fathi is fellowship trained in MOHS. 2: A fellowship is a 1 year dermatologic surgery fellowship 3. In the fellowship not only are they going to train on surgical technique, but also in pathology.
Being trained in properly reading the pathology of the tissue being removed during a MOHS procedure is key. Why? Because you want to remove all of the BCS but not tissue that doesn't need to be removed. If the tissue pathology is not read properly then the surgeon may miss cancerous tissue and leave it behind, or on the flip side remove unnecessary tissue.
While the local Colorado MD is probably excellent, I wanted someone who had the training that Dr. Fathi has.
2 weeks in and the area where the BSC was excised is looking great and the scar is looking better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWill not be returning. Disappointed in their medication fill procedure they have. They give out your phone number to random people, make you download some random app, to have your medication delivered to you. Um. No. How about just send it to a normal pharmacy I can access and pickup the same day? Iāve never had anyone do it like this and itās so ghetto. So I called to have the doctor send it to CVS, which they never did? Disappointed and sad I wasted $100 for my copay for absolutely no reason at all.
Update: in response to their response to me. Nobody was āname-calling,ā I said your medication refill system is ghetto, which is a valid opinion and I stand by it. My issue in the first place is that, obviously, this is a common medical condition and youāre prescribing me a medicine that is no longer carried by ALL major pharmacies, maybe the problem is with you, since its āno longer commercially available.ā Why are you prescribing it in the first place? Iām quite sure there is a plethora of other medications you could have prescribed me that would have had a similar effect, if not, the exact same. Like I stated over the phone, Iām very traditional and prefer to pickup my medications in person, from a pharmacy. If you have a problem with that, maybe you shouldnāt be in this business. Very disappointed with this place. Iāll be taking my momās recommendations and trying a new dermatologist for any further treatments as your teams lack of professionalism and compassion...
