Still in shock.Quick Background. Raised on farm have had animals a few decades LOL. Have friends in animal care. Have donated several animals to WSU for continued research. The cost of animal care and service is becoming discouraging and honestly not affordable for many who want/need a companion. Anyway our German Shepherd I felt had cheat grass in ear. I waited until Monday am as it wasn't the worse case I have experienced. I call our vet now under another new ownership, I could drop her off they will try to fit her in and determine if they can take care of it that day, Asked if it was ok to just wait with her outside as didn't want to add more stress to her, they preferred not. I could take her to emergency vet. Called two other local vets, this is a dog in pain they could see her in 5 days with new patient fees for set up, I could prepay over phone. Called Silver Valley: Warm on initial call, day was full, but if it was cheat grass that is very painful, puts me on hold, if I didn't mind being fit in bring her up. Greated warmly , very calm, vet actually came and did a quick exam, let us be with our dog as she is more comfortable with us, determines most likely is cheat but can't see without sedation, do we mind waiting, as she is being fit in, nope happy to wait, outside we go to table under trees for dogs comfort not required to be put in crate with an iv port for hours. Vet explains cost without any possible other needs. $200.00 , didn't say pay up front first, actually trusted us we have never not paid any bill anywhere, showing concern for our dog. Procedure done, comes out lets us know that she is slow to wake we can wait or allow another injection which vet thinks is best so she doesn't have to stay over night in an unfamiliar place unnecessarily. Done, add the additional injection, LOVE this place hope they don't change, their small town, old school vet feel. I have seen lots of offices change sadly. p.s. she got a free pedicure which was notice even though I do her nails regularly as I really do love my pets but can't go into debt to...
Read moreWe are so lucky you have Silver Valley as our vet. Everyone is so caring and compassionate. I recently had to have 2 dogs put to sleep which is always horrendous but rather than do it in a sterile room with a stressed out dog and emotional owner we did it in the car all snuggled up together. Not only are they great with the dying they are great with the living. Jenny (my Labrador) had an enlarged spleen which was cancerous. Dr Patti explained everything upfront including the chance of survival. The spleen was removed, Jenny had 5 bouts of chemo and lived another 2 and a half years, a miracle in itself. No one likes to talk about money but it is a fact of life and pet care can get expensive. Silver Valley vet is so reasonable and there are never any hidden fees, no treatments are “recommended” that aren’t in your pets best interest and I like that the vets greet my pets like they are old friends which puts them at their easy and relaxes me. I highly recommend this vet and have to most people. One person I know lives in Rathdrum and takes her Labrador’s here, that is 110 mile round trip. Now that is a...
Read moreDr. Walker is one of the most intelligent, experienced, compassionate, honest vets we have ever worked with; more importantly, he is a genuinely good person. There isn't enough space here for me to write all the examples/reasons. He has gone out of his way to help us help our dog, Buck, to have the best quality of life and has done the same for friends that we referred to him. Dr. Haas and all of the office staff with whom we have interacted have been wonderful. We drive to Pinehurst from CDA because we know our family will be well cared for, and the prices will be reasonable. We can't thank Dr. Walker enough. Dr. Patty is amazing with our dog, Cooper. She is so kind and knowledgeable. Dr. Patty and all the staff are extremely patient and wonderful in dealing with Cooper's anxiety. We highly recommend Silver Valley...
