Holiday Lanes — Local services in Pittsburg

Looking at the other reviews, one said "we don't want to go to the counter for fear of being treated rudely". That really sums our experience too.

My wife made me a neon shirt. I said "Let's go extreme bowling to see it in the black lights." Called, "Saturday 7:30pm til close." Got there about 830pm. Guy behind the counter wont stop watching TV to help a customer. Full lights (not black lights). Paid our $36 for 2 people on one lane for one hour(no shoes, we have our own, along with my own ball), lane 2. We figured the black lights would be on soon. Bowled 3 frames where my ball wouldn't return and we requested to switch lanes. Same thing happened for 4 frames on the next lane. Still no black lights, my wife and I threw in the towel. I asked for a refund and the "manager" argued whether we bowled for a half an hour or 20 mins. I said please at least give me half my money back; which he finally did after having to call the owner to find out how to do a refund. But I never got to throw my ball once at a spare...sooooooo. Trying to be polite "maybe they'll be running better next time" the managers reply was "they'll be running the exact same". That's gotta be a rough league. Then I said that we were hoping for the black light bowling anyway. And he said that they didn't turn it on cause there was "no one there" I looked at my wife and said it "I guess we are no one, and we feel it". Joplin is...

My 30th birthday was coming up and we knew we wanted to celebrate here with a bunch of friends. I called 2 weeks prior to the date to reserve two lanes and inform them of the large crowd of adults. I also said we would like to be closest to the bar if possible. The man said great took my info and that was it. Fast forward to my birthday I call 30 minutes prior to our arrival just to make sure everything was good. They said they were ready for us. We got there and it was a mess. They didn't have any lane reserved we just got lucky with open ones. We were all the way at the opposite end of the bar and they informed me they were unaware of our large group. I love this place but obviously things...

Front desk was apathetic, when we showed there @ 5pm. However they did miss hear us, That was understandable considering it was a Saturday around 7 when we talked to them next (loud and busy). Careful with the website tho, lived here forever so I knew shoe rental is extra, however oddly laid out on the website. So bank on shoe rental once and then pay for each game for each person unless there is a special. If you are not a bowler that might be a sticker shock. Will say tho it is very clean and maintained. Will go again but even living here forever that website is very unclear. As far as staff everyone is turning over right now so I'm erring to the side of caution...
