This is the place to go for nearly any Russian or Ukrainian good. We usually come here once every few months to stock up, and they have especially good kuliches and paska bread on Easter. Today, I got a bunch of staples like rye bread, honey, candies, pastries, cake, liver sausage, buckwheat, wheat, millet, and even soap! The prices here are pretty decent and the couple running this store are friendly and willing to help out. It’s clean and the variety is fantastic. The lady even gives kids a free candy sometimes.
Here is what I thought about some of the items I got: Liver sausage: pretty smooth, good with bread, but it doesn’t taste too authentic. It’s alright. Millet/buckwheat/wheat: they are all tasty and great quality for the price. Farmer’s cheese pastry: the bread is pretty soft but I’d say it is too dry. The cheese is too crumbly as well. Filled blini: very tasty and they have multiple ways to be cooked. Napoleon cake: it comes completely frozen, which is a little odd. I guess I’ll have to defrost it before trying it, but it looks good. Wasn’t labeled in the store, though. Cherry danish: pretty good but not too flavorful. Soft bread. Pascha bread: always great and a must get on Orthodox Easter! All of the candies are great except red one pictured, which tastes a little stale. The blue Nutrcracker one is large and hard. The toffee is stuffed with a tasty fruit filling. The candy with a swallow on it has a nice fruity undertone and creamy filling. Romashka is a classic Russian candy you must try, and the Konafetto is amazing too!
Highly recommend you sample a few (or a bunch!) of items...
Read moreI stopped going to this Russian store and the Kiev near to this one for the reason that they sell expired food. I bought carrot salad it had more than 20 days before expiring but it was already expired, It’s slimy and smells. If u see expropriation sticker that they use its stick on u can put whatever date u want. I have bought can foods that was also expired in the past. U need to be heartless and dishonest person to sell expired food. So I stopped going there and other day I was near by and just needed few things so I decided get it there maybe they won’t be expired this time but I was wrong. I go to Turkish Russian store in Dormont since they opened few years back and I never had expired...
Read moreRude service. Very rude service. I did not know about the new rule regarding the number of customers in the store and masks. And I did not get what the owner Natalia and her husband were saying. I asked ‘’What?’’. Hoping to get an answer. After that Natalia SHOUTED on me “STAY OUTSIDE . YOU ARE GOING TO PAY A FINE.” I think that was rude and disrespectful. And it was not the only case when the associates of the store were rude with me. I do not want to be mean but that is how I see the service in this store. And this...
