I went to Gilley's when I first moved to Indy in the 90's and had positive experiences and memories. With that in mind I returned late August 2014 and was treated horrifically by the store manager, Brenda Ross. I wanted to purchase an antique dresser and inquiried if the owner would consider a lower price. Since it was not redlined the saleclerk offered to call the owner and left a message. The store manager asked me what I was waiting for and when I told her she started yelling at me and said that the gentleman that called could get in trouble for doing that and that they did not call the owners. She was beyond rude to me. I had come to Gilley's that Saturday not to just make a purchase but to have a pleasant day/experience like I remebered from the past. Brenda managed to completely destroy the entire experience. I have since called the store twice trying to speak to the owners. Unfortunately my messages have gone unanswered. I always wonder how someone like that gets hired for a customer service position. So much good will is lost because of...
Read moreThis place is great, but it's not just one antique store. There is a main person who runs it, and then antiques dealers who buy booths to sell their own antiques. It's always confusing who to ask. The owner? Or the dealer? Find out yourself like I had to. There is no golden stuff or precious metals here, no rings like I want when I become Golem from the Lord of The Rings. Best to go to a "cash for gold" shop. Just don't forget: others are also after the rings. The Ring Wraiths. They will track you down, like they tracked down me. Best to never use a map. Mapquest.com is still a bad way. Just close your eyes and let your instinct take over, like Luke did when he destroyed the Death Star. What I am trying to say is that this antique mall of filled with Star Wars stuff. But no I have this ring and I became Golem. One ring to rule them all, and one to find them. Does anyone know how to...
Read moreShopping at Gilley's was hands down the best antiquing experience I have ever had. 5 large buildings full of decor and various antiques, there's something for everyone here. The staff are so friendly and greet you as you walk in. You'll never need to worry about if you can carry everything you find, because a staff member is always around and willing to take your treasures up to the counter to hold them/wrap and package them for you. Like a well-oiled machine! I purchased someone's 132 piece glassware collection while there this past weekend, and in the hour between when I found it and asked for help, and when I finally made it to the checkout, they already had every piece wrapped, boxed, and ready to roll out the door on a cart. Can't say enough about the...
