TLDR: They let me move into an infested apartment, it’s been nearly three months and the bugs are still here. Pest control told me it was a certain type of bug initially. After threatening legal action, pest control changed their minds and said it was another bug that I “brought” in to relieve themselves of any obligation. Was treated horribly and constantly disrespected throughout this whole process.
I’ve lived in the complex for over 4 years. In august, I had to transfer units because the unit I was living in was due for an upgrade. I decided to upgrade to a larger apartment home (2 bed compared to 1 bed). I didn’t have really any problems at my old unit. However, when I moved into the larger unit, it was disgusting and it seemed like it wasn’t even cleaned or inspected before move in. Shortly after I moved in, I noticed some flying bug. I thought it was a fly, but then there were more and more of them, so I put in a service request for pest control. They came, and they said it was wood boaring beetles. These things are super small, but they’re everywhere. They fumigated, but the bugs didn’t die off or anything. I complained every week about the bugs. Eventually, after 2 months with these bugs, pest control stopped showing up, claiming that they thought the poison was feeding the bugs. Management treated me like I was a nuisance for complaining about these bugs. One of the leasing consultants clearly doesn’t like me, and you could hear the annoyance in her voice anytime she talked to me. I’ve never had to complain to the complex until these bugs. Eventually, I threatened legal action to get this problem taken care of. They had a secondary pest control vendor come out, and this vendor said they were cigarette beetles, a store bought pest that burrows in grains. The original pest control vendor came out and decided it was that type of beetle as well. I don’t know what it actually is, but it feels too convenient that suddenly they changed their minds to say it’s a bug that I would have caused. Despite the bugs showing up over a week before I bought new food, and the old food wasn’t an issue because I didn’t have bugs in my older unit. The complex made me throw out all of my food, all of this on my own dime. The complex then fined me for leaving my trash out. Overall, they treated me poorly and like they didn’t care about the issue even though it was impacting my mental and physical health. I was offered zero compensation. Once they realized they could be held liable, they changed the issue to blame it on me.
I was super excited to have more space. However, I wasn’t allowed to see the unit I would be moving into until I actually moved in. I was given a virtual tour of a representative unit, but that doesn’t give you a real idea of what you’re getting. It was dirty, the floorboard was broken, the garage door didn’t work, and so many other things. I had dealt with any issue I had had in my old apartment without any complaints, even though the cops did a wellness check on my neighbors once a week for a two straight months. I kept to myself, and everything was fine, not great, but acceptable. As soon as I started paying more money, everything went downhill. I wouldn’t recommend Camden Legacy Park to anyone, and I will not be living at any Camden property...
Read moreI moved here because it was close to my place of employment to my commute went from 1hr to literally 5mins. I've lived here for a month now... I was excited to move in at 1st then after a couple of days I quickly realized my move here was perhaps a mistake. The carpet in my apartment should have been replaced the condition of it was camouflaged by the neat lines in it from when it semi cleaned the Garage walls were filthy and still had crayon/chalk from the kids who lived here before. They claimed to have cleaned the apartment before I moved in it was not thoroughly cleaned and inspected there was hair everywhere they painted over hair and dirty or at least tried to the drawers were all damaged and honestly needed to be replace only 1 was replace after I put in a work order for it. The blinds need to be replaced most of them don't work properly. There's cracks and crevices throughout the entire apartment from the baseboards to the windows. No matter how much I clean I can not get rid of the gnats in the bedroom and bathroom I've spend well over $100 trying to get rid of them. My apartment wreaks of cigarette smoke especially in the bedroom it would have been nice to be told that this it's shared ventilation. There's a Storage closet that really isn't storage because the water heater is in there 1st time I've seen that. the irigation system is right along my apartment so it's always wet and muddy probably why I have gnats all of the time. There are/were countless fees that I wasn't told about. When I asked how do I go about getting the Cable service which is included in my monthly rent I was given little to no information. I had no idea that yet another credit check had to be ran and that I needed to order equipment. Luckily I didn't have to pay and additional deposit for the equipment. I'm not thrilled to be forced to pay for internet & cable with a specific provider. I don't watch television so I honestly don't need cable TV and would rather not pay for it but there's no option to opt out. I know it could be worse but for the amount of money I'm paying it should be a whole lot better. There are lots of other complexes around me that I should have found time to visit before settling in here. I'm honestly just waiting for my lease to be up I can't take the cigarette smoke smell...
Read moreWe just got relocated to this area and so far it has been a bad experience. The apartment community is conveniently located (about 2 miles from whole foods, trader joes, sprouts and 4 miles from Costco), the apartments are decent (appliances are old and not in very good shape) but other than that its horrible. We move here one month back, and when we moved in our dryer was not working, and one month later it has not been fixed.
The part that is most annoying is that we believed we had signed for automatic withdraw for our rent, but I guess something went wrong and the payment was not withdraw. This is were the nightmare starts. I got a call from Ingrid (the most arrogant person in the whole entire universe) telling me that I have 10 minutes to make my payment otherwise I will get a $50 dollar late fee, I tried to do it in my phone since I am out and I guess their system is not mobile friendly. So, I got the $50 late fee, I decided to go and talk to her at her office and after waiting for 45 minutes she comes and tell me in the worse attitude that she has to leave the office and she does not even try to listen to what I have to say. After seeing her grumpy mood towards me, I realized that nothing was going to be resolved. I called her the next day, but she is very defensive and I cannot imagine how anyone can work around her.
Long story short, this place is ready to charge late fees, but it takes for ever to get anything fixed. In addition, the place has a lot of insect and we even saw a dead rat for over one week and no one bother to clean that even though there are many children playing in the evening in that area. The other thing is that electricity is crazy in this place, we got our fist bill and we were in shock maybe because their appliances are not energy efficient at all.
Jeff and the other office lady (I believe she is the community manager) are really nice and try their best to help. Maybe they should give Ingrid some tips on customer service since she has no clue what customer...
