I was working on a plumbing project at my business. To speed things up, I placed an online order for over 40 in stock pipe fittings. during the time while I was waiting for the email saying my order was ready, we disassembled the plumbing to a hot tub so that when we picked up the parts we could complete the project. I kept 2 building engineers on overtime to complete this. I realized that I was going to need more of the same fittings that I ordered, so when the email came in saying my order was ready, I heading over to home depot, bought the extra fittings I needed and headed to the online counter. I was handed one little bag and the attendant took off. I quickly realized I was short on the order and asked the next attendant what happened to the rest of my order... He said I needed to get back in line. I waited my turn and he glanced at my order. He said one item must have caused it to be held out for "home delivery". I told him ALL items were in stock. he was very bothered that I would question him on this and said, "you have 2 choices, wait for the items (one week out) or purchase them again and return the shipment when it comes in". then he took the next person in line while I was still standing at his counter.
I did not have time to run around the store to gather all the parts I had already purchased, so I left. I sent the staff home and the project wasn't completed on time. I reached out to the home depot main line and raised the question about what happened. I was told this is a "glitch" that happens quite often. I asked if they could just fill the order from the store so I could continue my project, the response was no... then she started to imply that it was my fault for not noticing that AFTER I placed the order that 3/4 of my items were scheduled to be shipped and I should have cancelled the order in the 45 minute window that they allow it to be cancelled. But at this time, they can not cancel it and offer no apology for their "computer glitch" or compensation for the major inconvenience or the fact that now I have to spend more than an hour to go purchase the items a second time to complete my project, then wait for the shipped items to show up so I can take more of my time to drive them back to home depot to return them!
I received an email an hour after my visit to fill out a survey about this visit. of course I filled this out and at the end, it asked if I would like to be contacted. I filled out my phone number and now I wait... so far 3 days with no call or email...... I will be sure to update my review after seeing how home depot responds to...
Read moreMy name is Jason. I am a professional plumber iv been shopping at the Home depot for 20 yrs i own my own company. Today i was at the Plymouth store picking up. Parts for my Jobs and a water Heater pre purchased on will call by my customer three days befor pick up. I usually pick up my Heaters from customer service and have little issues. Today was different. I noticed the combined returns and customer service, there was a line of 7 people and 2 people working customer service. I had to wait 25 mins just to get help. One man spent 15 mins returning about 5 dollars of. Miscellaneous nuts and bolts, by now I'm getting irritated. So finaly i get some help from a ladie who was very friendly, i have all of my information ready, she looks up my order only to find out that sombody dropped the ball and didn't pull my water heater. So she calles for help to no avail. So i said i would go pull the water heater on my own...OK... But i have to come back to customer service. So i get back and by now its been about 40 mins. Now there's 5 more people in line. OH GREAT. So i wait to finaly get my pre purchased water heater. Now its been an hour and i still have to go shopping for my materials. So I'm shopping only to find out that they are missing a couple of very common parts that should be instock at all times regardless. So not only have i been in the store for an hour an 15 minutes i have to go to another store to get all the parts i need for the job. As a plumbing contractor i plan a tight schedule during my day planning for some minor eventualitys, to be expected. This FUBAR. Completely screwed up my schedule for the rest of the day. I was late to three meetings i had to call 3 diffrent people to say i would be late, embarrassing, and my kid was late to a school program. I understand everyone is busy but personally i spend 30,000 to 40,000 dollars annually just at Home Depot VS the old man retuning 5 dollars in nuts and bolts. I believe the should make me a preferred customer. Contractors in general expect a higher level of service that has definitely been lacking in all departments. Also there is a serious lack of accountability. I wish i knew how to get these problems fixed, who can i talk to? Unless these problems are fixed soon i will be forced to shop at other stores. Is anyone listening does anybody care? Please respond! Sincerely Jason the plumber...
Read moreToday I bought a battery back up for my sump pump. 3 employees in the store refused to accept my old battery return. I protested indicating that I believe they were required to accept old lead batteries free of charge. Sure enough MN statute requires that the retailer take the old battery. Here is the statute:
325E.1151 LEAD ACID BATTERY PURCHASE AND RETURN. Subdivision 1.Purchasers must return battery or pay surcharge. (a) A person who purchases a lead acid battery at retail, except a lead acid battery that is designed to provide power for a boat motor that is purchased at the same time as the battery, must: (1) return a lead acid battery to the retailer; or
(2) pay the retailer a surcharge of at least $10.
(b) A person who has paid a surcharge under paragraph (a) must receive a refund of the surcharge from the retailer if the person returns a lead acid battery with a receipt for the purchase of a new battery from that retailer within 30 days after purchasing a new lead acid battery.
(c) A retailer may keep the unrefunded surcharges for lead acid batteries not returned within 30 days.
§Subd. 2.Retailers must accept batteries. (a) A person who sells lead acid batteries at retail must accept lead acid batteries from consumers and may not charge to receive the lead acid batteries. A consumer may not deliver more than five lead acid batteries to a retailer at one time. (b) A retailer of lead acid batteries must recycle the lead acid batteries received from consumers.
(c) A retailer who violates paragraph (b) is guilty of a misdemeanor. Each lead acid battery that is not recycled is a separate violation.
...................... I spoke to the assistant store manager who reluctantly agreed to do some staff training. This was a poor experience and an example of a giant retailer cutting corners. Without proper recycling these batteries do mega damage to our water supply.
