LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE.
Viewing ONLY from Highway 4 created an almost magical memory and actually seemed quite surreal. IF you like "space" you'll love the opportunity to see this AREA. But NOT inside! The entire corporate complex is PRIVATE PROPERTY. So mind your manners and be respectful. There are NO tours nor facilities for the public at all. Highway 4 provides a few turnouts to pause for a bit, stare in awe, and take a few pictures. And from a relatively short distance too. That's it. But it's worthwhile. The VALUE is in creating a lifetime memory of something you otherwise will never likely see as "up close" again (and for free)! Highway 4 runs through to relatively small "open to the public" Boca Chica State Beach, which also has no facilities. Almost everything SpaceX though, seems out in the open and visible from Highway 4. SpaceX's HUGE effort here will likely go down in history as a major step in human space travel and exploration. So in that sense, you're already visiting a historic site of significance. A "Starship" is kind of like launching a fully reusable, large SKYSCRAPER into space!
"Starbase" is a genuine modern-day spectacle! IF you venture out here, FIRST try online to locate a photo of workers actually working on a rocket to judge their TRUE SCALE. With nothing to compare in your visual field it's somewhat difficult to accurately judge their true size. And you also can't fully judge the distance you're viewing from either. Which all seems REALLY quite close, but actually had to have been at least a few hundred feet. Nevertheless they still appear HUGE against the few visual cues available in the environment. You'll also DEFINITELY want to check online to VERIFY "Texas State Highway 4" will not be CLOSED due to testing immediately prior to your drive. This is key. Because SpaceX regularly obtains permission to close Highway 4 as required. All in all, I wouldn't miss...
Read moreI recently had the incredible opportunity to visit Starbase in Texas, and let me tell you, it was an experience like no other. The moment I stepped onto the grounds, I was swept away by the raw innovation and futuristic vibe that only SpaceX could deliver.
The highlight, however, was not just the cutting-edge technology or the majestic sight of the Starship rocket poised for the next great leap into space. No, the real spectacle was the unexpected view I had from one of the lesser-known vantage points of the facility. There, I witnessed none other than Elon Musk, in all his visionary glory, engaging in what can only be described as a very personal, very vigorous meeting with Tiffany Gomas.
The sight was truly something to behold, a testament to human ambition in more ways than one. It added an extra layer of entertainment to an already fascinating visit. It was like watching a live performance of Musk's drive and determination, albeit in a rather unconventional setting.
The facilities themselves are top-notch, with every square inch echoing SpaceX's commitment to pushing the boundaries of what's possible. The staff, although perhaps a bit distracted by the goings-on, were as informative and enthusiastic as you'd expect from those working on humanity's next steps into the cosmos.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a visit that combines the thrill of space exploration with unexpected, live-action entertainment, Starbase is your place. It's not every day you get to peek into the personal life of a billionaire while also marveling at humanity's future in space. Absolutely five stars from me.
Note: While the visit was memorable, please remember that Starbase primarily exists to advance space technology, and such unique sights might not be on the regular...
