I usually get my fireworks from stores closer to the IL-IN border, but I read some good reviews online about Shelton Fireworks and their online catalog prices reflected what other customers were saying. I drove an extra 30 minutes, and I am happy I did so. Calling this places “huge” is not enough. They have everything and at better prices than their competitors. While a smaller store closer to the border may only have 10 varieties of rockets, Shelton probably had 50. They also break apart packs and sell individual pieces. I liked this idea because I like to try more new items instead of being forced to buy a pack of 6 or 12 of the same thing. They also had reasonable prices on their individual items. They have a couple of very large rows dedicated just to assortments, which other stores can’t match. Also, their layout is very nice. More than enough space between rows, unlike the small stores where you are bumping into things. It is easy to navigate and there are plenty of associates to help you with any questions. I met the manger and he treats his customers with great respect and appreciation. The only suggestion I have for them is to include videos of some of the fireworks like other stores do. I was kind of confused on what some items did. I will definitely be coming back here for the next 4th of July and also any other time I need...
Read moreAmazing fireworks store! The store is roughly the size of any Strack & Van Til or Kroger stores and the prices beat most competitors. They also have BY FAR the largest selection in the region! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, although I have heard little about the quality of the fireworks. I have not heard any complaints, so it must be great.
UPDATE 11-14-21: the quality is okay (very good for the price point), you get a few duds here and there (you can return duds with your receipt). Duds are most common on old items (pre 2000) and firecracker strips/belts (once lit, only about 70% of them go off on certain brands). On the other hand, you get pretty big bonuses when you check out, which more than makes up for the duds. The best rockets are definitely the Blue Crackling! Will update again after lighting off my New Year's Eve show, trying the barrage candles.
UPDATE 2-22-2022: the Alien firecracker strips are the best out of all of them and one of the best I've...
Read moreDoing a pretty good impression of a Woodmans in the category of "fireworks store" is Shelton Fireworks. If its legal, its here and theres a dozen different kinds of it for cheap. Similarly to a Woodmans, there aren't really any valuable coupons, and the salesfloor is by far the largest of any fireworks store I've been to. Unique to Shelton is the store credit you recieve based on what you initially spend. That credit tends to fall somewhere between 10 and 25 percent and you have to use that credit the same day. So my advice is not buying everything you want initially and saving some items for your second checkout. For example. I spent $200, and I received $40 to come back in and spend. Take your first purchase to the car and come back in. There are no over the top gimmicks here nor are there any "buy one, get one" deals here. The employees are assisting and help you get your purchases bagged up and are overall pretty friendly. I'll be...
