I lived in Portland with my parents before the store became Adam’s, now I come to Adam’s every few months when I house sit or want to pick up something for a visit. If Adam’s was just a bakery, they’d get 5 stars - the items are yummy and well-priced, and the store is clean and generally employs a friendly staff. The rest of the experience knocks them down 3 stars. The frozen food is limited (which is sad because house-sitting is the only time I will indulge), so I end up having to peruse the store for ingredients. Truthfully, I cannot speak to the meat and seafood however, the dairy and produce sections are grossly price gauged. If you want Brie, I hope you’re happy with $15 cheese, because there is only one option! Other blocks of cheese will run you $7. If you leave that section empty handed, head on over to the produce where, more often than not, lots of things are already rotting. If you don’t mind that, then prepare to pay up. Non organic lettuce can run you $6 and just one avocado will run you $2.50. Sometimes I just give up and work with what they have, but more often than not I leave empty handed and head to Cromwell to do my shopping, which as you can imagine, is not fun. I understand that stores can be hit or miss on produce, but it’s hard to believe that there are only misses when I happen to come in - either way, the prices are totally unacceptable. I think going forward I will just be sticking to...

Read moreI'm local to this market (Portland)and go here out of convenience. So this review is not just from one experance but quite a few. This last one was the one that has me finally fed up. Buyer we ware, check your receipt. More then a handful of times they over charged me on items. For example today they had a sale on stuffed bread $5, at the register $6.45 full price. I would of gone back but my 11 month old was screaming didn't want to deal with it over $1.45 but like I said this was not the first time, not 4th time either. To be honest over the last 3 years my wife and I lost count. The second is their produce, awful! From a far it looks nice and clean. I've brought home rotten onions, clementines, grapes and grape tomatoes that had mold, avocado that's black when you open. I cant go back every time I find this when I go home. So how much money has this grocery store cheated me? Maybe I should inspect the product more carefully, but do I have to be a part time FDA inspector to go grocery shopping, I cant trust that they are looking at their own...
