Scott Annex Center Strike Zone — Local services in Portsmouth

Normally, this is where we always bowl. It’s cheaper so I understand it being a little more run down. However, today, was a horrible experience. The ac wasn’t working. It’s like 95 outside. I mean, post a sign or something. It was miserable inside the bowling alley. My mom is in her 60’s and she was dripping sweat. Then, the drink fountain wasn’t working. It had like 3 “out of order signs” tapped to it. THEN, our bumpers weren’t working. It wouldn’t be a big deal if I didn’t have kids. But I have a 6 & 7 year old. I asked the man working, and he tried to fix them, but then just walked away. So when it was the kids turn to bowl again and the left bumper didn’t come up, I went and told the man again. He the tells me, “I need a mechanic” and walks away from me. Now look, if stuff isn’t working, ok. But now to be rude on TOP of everything else is just not ok. The lanes are nice and good quality. The pins rack fast. Bowler interface touchscreen has the normal options for a bowling alley and setup is very easy. I haven't eaten here lately so I can't comment on the food. They do have a nice $15 lunch special that includes a couple of games, food and drink, and shoes. A variety of beers are advertised also. My kids enjoyed the Strike Zone and the prices are reasonable. We will be back. The building A/C was not working well when we played, but I was told it was being fixed. I believe the place is being remodeled. One pool table and 2 or 3 arcade games were available. Went there today and customers service was awful. The ladies working there were just rude and mean. Our numbers didn’t work and the lady working there yelled at us all the way across the floor get another ball! Then the one behind the snack bar decided she wasn’t gonna serve me because I had been standing there waiting while she was talking to her friend. She then proceeds to tell me if she wasn’t there that means she was taking her trash out, um no lady you were chatting with your coworker. It got so bad the police had to be called. If the workers are that unhappy maybe they need another job. If customers service isn’t your thing don’t work with the public. ...
