This review is for the Culebra Excursion as a scuba diver. This negative review is mostly against Capt. Nelson, but also to call out some issues with Aqua Adventure's business practices, lack of customer service, and the experience overall. There is no bathroom on the boat, and they had it crowded full of both divers and snorkelers. Wetsuits are not included in the "full rental gear" package, and you don't find this out until you are on the boat. The rest of the rental gear is in pretty bad condition. Aqua Adventures treats its customers with a “Take it or Leave it” attitude. This time I took it, and I strongly advise other divers to leave it.

#1: Poor equipment maintenance. I expect rental gear to show some wear and tear, but to be safe and functional. There was no fit check for gear prior to boarding the boat. I observed the staff performing gear inspections after the vessel was underway. Additional gear failures were discovered during the first dive, when two divers had to terminate their dives early due to faulty rental BCDs, and another due to broken rental fins.

#2: Rude and unprofessional staff. There were 3 staff onboard: Sayeed, Antonio, and Capt. Nelson. Sayeed and Antonio were both polite and professional. The positive attitude that they maintained while dealing with such a negative Captain is the only reason I give 2 stars. Capt. Nelson thought he was funny, but I observed him making rude comments to customers. At the end of the trip, Capt. Nelson asked that we leave a review on Trip Advisor. He specifically asked that if it was a 5 star review, to give the credit to Capt. Nelson and AquaAdventures, but if it was less than 5 stars, to say he was someone else from SeaVentures (a competitor dive agency). In retrospect, I wish I had booked with SeaVentures instead.

#3: Dishonesty, false advertising, and poor communication. The rental contract states “Full rental equipment (Includes everything needed to Dive)” provided. No wetsuits were provided. Communication and customer service leading up to the trip was generally poor and a little bit rude.

The invoice states that we paid for: 2 tank dive, 9 am to 4 pm. What we got was two quick 30 minute dives, and headed back to the docks at 1:25 pm, arriving at 2:39 pm. Divers still had 1500-2000 PSI left in their tanks on the second dive. The weather and conditions were beautiful and amazing. No explanation or apology was given. The entire experience felt rushed and...

The worst tour I ever had. The small boat doesn’t have a restroom and is very bumpy that makes a lot of people Sea sick. My mom felt very sick and threw up. Instead of caring about her feelings and well-being, the tour people insisted that she should be sitting on the boarding steps which is slippery and no protection with water splashing constantly. I said I gave my mom a vomit bag so that she won’t throw up on your board and it’s not safe sitting on the steps. They never cared to listen and kept pushing us verbally.

At the first stop, I was asking how to wear the life jacket which is not a secured one that you would expect to see at most of other places. It’s an inflated one I had never used. I was told to wait. But after some check-ins and until the end of the activities, nobody came to help. I tried my best to help my mom and myself to put it on, but when we got into the water. It kept sliding up to the neck and almost falling off. We can’t follow the group and the waves brought us to another direction. Nobody noticed us until I shouted to the boat. They throw a life ring to us and blamed us for swimming that way. By joining this tour, you are on your own and would risk your time and life for nothing. I would highly suggest choosing a more professional tour group that cares your safety and truly knows what...

Amazing experience, can't wait to return. I really appreciated how organized and communicative the whole process was. Very clear instructions on where to meet and what to bring. We did the full day trip in a group of 10. You can either scuba, SNUBA or snorkel, or a combination in the morning/afternoon. I loved how flexible they were, I am scuba certified and my husband is not, and they have an instructor/lead for each group. They took us to one island in the morning with a beautiful beach, we had lunch on the boat and then they took us to another island with the most amazing scuba 60 feet of clear water. The divemaster- Machete was incredibly experienced and a great teacher. I was the least experienced out of a scuba group of 7 and he made sure that I felt comfortable every step of the way. We did the proper partner descent and ascend together. All the instructors were extremely professional and skilled, Captain Mike was super fun and friendly. Literally an unforgettable memory and we will be doing this trip every time we visit PR. will post...

We booked snorkeling and certified scuba diving with Aqua Adventure to Culebra. There aren’t many excursion company offering Snorkeling and scuba diving trips from Fajardo to Culebra. It’s very convenient as they offer electronic waivers to sign after booking. Clear instructions on when and where to meet. Boat ride was an hour each way to Culebra. The waves are ok. Not bad at all. The spots we anchored are better for snorklers as there are more to see in very shallow reefs < 10 feet. 1st dive was around 40 ft. Saw some beautiful reef fish and a ray. The 2nd dive was around 15 ft as we anchored by the Culebra beach and we did shore entrance. There weren’t much to see for divers but the beach and water were amazing! Our dive master Matthew and crew were engaging, professional and fun! They helped me setting up and switching gears. Beverages (water, soda and alcohol) and a simple lunch( salad and sandwiches) were included! We had a great time! Highly recommend!

We were excited to book a snorkeling tour of Culebra but the weather didn’t cooperate. We appreciate that Aqua Adventure kept in close communication with us over the possibility of having to change our destination due to weather. The team was so professional, knowledgeable and accommodating. We had a wonderful time all day. The weather Gods shone upon us and eventually delivered a gorgeous day. We ended up going to Icaco, which was stunning! Then they took us a little further out to snorkel on the nearby reefs. The currents were strong and the crew was adamant about the passengers staying close to the boat, although we truly appreciate their safety standards, we would have liked to see more reefs. Nonetheless, the water was spectacular and the experience was a blast! One day I will get to see Culebra, I’ve attempted to go three times and something always happens.

Exceptional experience! Didn’t start as planned for everyone - 30 mins into our trip for Culabera the waves were 6 ft and the coast guard called off the trip. It was scary but Gregory was attentive to me being anxious with the conditions given my 4 year old was on the boat and the whole crew emphasized safety first. They quickly went to plan B and we had a beautiful day visiting and snorkeling at local islands and a beach. Can’t say enough about the amazing crew - Captain Nelson, Antonio, Gregory and Jonwell, they very kind, informative, friendly, funny and definitely had a huge impact in it being such a great experience - you can tell they are very good at their jobs but they also love what they do. Highly recommend!
