In my personal experience and opinion, as everyone’s experiences and opinions may vary, I enjoyed my time at Harvey’s until I began experiencing personal harassment. One particular employee consistently judged me and commented on my facial expressions. In January, she even called me an “asshole” while speaking to me, despite her denial of making such a remark.
My intention when I visited the gym was to feel more comfortable with myself, not to be subjected to judgment based on my appearance. For instance, some individuals may experience discomfort daily and push through despite it. One of the main reasons I went there was for health issues and the use of the sauna to help alleviate them. The purpose of a gym is to foster a sense of welcome and build confidence, not to create an environment where members feel judged. Unfortunately, I was subjected to judgment and self-consciousness during my visits, which made me feel unwelcome.
The staff’s behavior was selective, and they did not make every member feel valued or welcomed. They would fabricate false accusations against members, including myself. After speaking with the owner, who treated me disrespectfully, I was advised to cease my membership at Harvey’s. Despite the owner’s attempts to dismiss my concerns, blame me - when I was a paying member - I chose to patronize a gym where I am treated with dignity and respect. My financial resources are not limited, but I prioritize spending them at establishments that prioritize treating their members as human beings.
However, if you are seeking a gym that thrives on drama and mistreatment, then this is the...
Read moreThe gym itself is 5 stars compared to the one we recently went to. My only concern is the younger teens and some adults that just sit at the machines and hang out talking. Most people aren't going to ask someone to move so they can use the machine. And the ones that are willing to speak up and ask them to move, could eventually lead to an altercation. My husband has ran into this issue multiple times. He will need to use equipment but can't due to people just sitting there doing nothing. Can you all please hang some kind of sign letting people know if they aren't using the machines to please move so others can access them. There are chairs up front and in the kids room to sit and talk. I didn't want to say anything but this is becoming an...
Read moreI normally don’t go out of my way to write reviews, but something forced me to do so. I really wanted to like this gym — the equipment is decent and the facility has potential — but the overall environment just wasn’t it. Let’s just say the vibe felt off. Some folks seemed more interested in socializing than actually working out, and management doesn’t seem too concerned about maintaining a respectful atmosphere for everyone.
When issues were brought up, instead of handling them fairly, they seemed quick to point fingers at the wrong people. Not the kind of place I want to be if I’m just trying to focus on fitness without unnecessary distractions or drama. Plenty of other gyms out there that prioritize professionalism over...
