Byrum Ace Hardware — Local services in Putnam Township

Has always been a great local hardware store. However, my recent visit has made it so I will not return. I have been buying Traeger pellets for my smoker for over 5 years. This local "hometown" Ace has always sold them however this year expanded there selection. I was very excited. The price has been 18.99 per 20lbs bag, up to 2 weeks ago. The price as of this morning is 31.99! That is awful. A joke! PRICE GOUGING! I got into my car & it really set in. I returned the bag, then drove less than 5 miles up the road to Landland Ace Hardward. I paid 18.99 for the same bag. Very sad a small local business would price gouge it's own community, especially during an epidemic. I can only imagine what the prices are on the rest of the products they sell. Been going there for 4 years and only as a last resort. I always cross my fingers and hope for the best, telling myself that my experience will be different. “They are going to have what I need this time”. I’ve even called prior to going and they confirm they have what I’m looking for when they don’t. Unfortunately, not once have I been able to get what I needed and end up going somewhere else. Items such as electrical boxes, wire, staples, or screws. Even when I settle for something that isn’t what I really wanted, I look at the price and have to break into my 401(k) due to their “convenience”. Ace Hardware in Pinckney is my absolute go-to for a quick hardware store trip! Not only is it super convenient to my house, but the staff is always incredibly helpful and friendly.

Every time I go in, I'm greeted with a smile and someone is always willing to help me find exactly what I need. They're knowledgeable and seem to genuinely enjoy helping customers.
