Wow. For those that don't know (as I didn't), let me share how this works.
Dinner comes first, then show after.
The cast of the show also act as servers, offering a selection of soft drinks to go along with the buffet dinner and a small dessert during intermission.
Definitely try the chicken. Best fried chicken you will ever have.
After dinner the buffet is put away (coffee and hot water for tea remain available for the show), the lights flash to let you know that it's last call, and then Act 1 begins.
After Act 1 the cast returns to serve dessert, refresh soft drinks, and clean up the tables before starting Act 2. Have cash ready to provide a tip for good service and/or good acting if you choose to since this will be your only opportunity and you'll want to if for no other reason than the unique experience.
Lights flash and then comes Act 2.
There isn't really a rush to the door after Act 2 since many people have newly gotten to know their tablemates during dinner and the intermission so they take time to finalize.
IMPORTANT: This place doesn't have a liquor license - which ordinarily would be bad news except that they allow guests to bring their own bottle(s) - of whatever they might like to drink. We brought wine for dinner and vodka to make/drink martinis during the performance(s). No problem whatsoever and a hell of a lot cheaper than places that force you to buy from the bar. Ice is readily available if needed. EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: Bring whatever glassware/plasticware you plan on drinking your own drinks from or you'll be drinking them from the bottle (OK if it's beer I suppose, but not very classy) or a coffee cup.
SUMMARY: There is nothing about this experience that could be improved (IMHO). 6-stars (maybe 7 or 8) on...
Read moreFirst time guest at this venue, but I’m no stranger to dinner theater. The Dio has a great reputation within the community and I was not disappointed. In fact, my expectations were exceeded, which was truly a pleasure! Guests are seated promptly and the first course is brought out immediately upon being seated along with a carafe of water for the table, which is a great touch. The dinner is served plated and the serving size is generous. Dessert is served during intermission. Alcohol is not served, but guests can bring in their own libations should that be desired. But the best thing about the Dio is the show! Top notch! The costuming was outstanding and the set was just perfect for a small stage. Every seat is a great seat, you will be able to see the full stage regardless of where your table is located. The actors were amazing! So much talent here, and with the smaller venue it really made me, as an audience member, feel like part of the show. I will definitely be back and would encourage you to treat yourself and support this wonderful dinner theater! You will not be...
Read moreOutstanding evening! My wife and good friends went to see the radio play of “It’s a wonderful life “ and I had no expectations. The venue was warm and cozy on a cold winter night. The meal was delicious. It started with a small Waldorf salad with bread stick, the main course was hearty (chicken, stuffing and broccoli) and beverages are all included. The dessert at intermission was a tasty pumpkin spice dish with whipped cream.
The meal was a perfect complement to a great performance by five very talented performers. The story flowed great and the evening flew by. I was so impressed by everything and oh, by the way the performers were also your servers. I look forward to...
