I'm a huge fan of this place!! My only exception is the older lady who works there. She always seems to have a bit of an attitude. I went in there to buy a bi-fold door and 2 chairs. Because I was by myself, I brought each item up one by one. When I was checking out, she asked me if a separate chair, (brown wooden), was mine. I told her no, just the 2 green ones. I even pulled the stickers off of them and gave them to her. I pay and start loading up my truck. Before I leave, I look at my receipt and notice she charged me for the wood chair. I went in to make her aware and get my money back. This is when she decides to argue with me, like I'm a theif. She goes to my truck, set on proving wrong. Sees that there's no said chair, slightly apologizes, and starts to give me some story about mistaken identity, whatever. As she proceeds to give me my refund she makes the comment that they don't give refunds, only in-store credit, but she'll do it because it was her fault. Yet, she still has an attitude. If I had not been pressed for time, I would have spoken with a manager. So here I am instead. People be aware of her and what she's charging you. Habitat: put her in the back where she doesn't have to be around people. She's not a...
Read moreUpdated Review – 09/18/25 These donation centers feel more like businesses than charities now. The prices are getting out of hand. When I asked how items are priced, I was told they just Google the retail value (new) and then price donations at a third of that. An employee even admitted, “We have a business to run.” Pretty disappointing considering these items are donated for free.
2018 Review I went to this store today and saw vinyl and laminate flooring priced at $1 per sq. ft. The problem is, I can get the same material at a regular store for the same price—or even cheaper!
The whole point of donation centers is to sell donated items at lower prices than big retailers, so people who can’t afford regular retail can still buy what they need. Selling donated goods at the same cost as big stores defeats that purpose.
Here’s an image to show what I mean (from a ma...
Read moreUpdated Review - 2/22/25: I went to the new Racine Habitat for Humanity ReStore today. It is really nice! I needed some tongue and groove flooring and they had exactly what I was looking for. Super friendly people at the cash register. I can’t wait to go back! —— Original Review: A fun place to go look around and find stuff you need…. or find stuff you didn’t realize you needed before you got there. They have everything…. furniture, doors, dollies, doorknobs, shelving, fans, lights, toilets, sinks, tools, and thousands of other things. It is a great place to go if you are restoring an old house. We love going to ReStore. I recommend going at least once just to...
