So I skate all over the country and this is my hometown rink. It has had very little updates in the 15 years I’ve been skating here the floor is atleast wood unlike many other options nearby. The floor is exactly as you’d like it to be slick and grippy at same time. Could definitely get a mean power slide in there. The staff did a fine job the owner was kind and tended to our issues directly when having an issue with a teenage staff member not understanding how parents need to parent in lieu of the rules. Glad he was understanding. I thought the $10 price point is ok for the area but if you bring your own skates. It should still be $8 and $2 extra for skates and $4 extra for speed skates. So overall the price is fine. But people that own their own skates usually frequent skating rinks and should be given a discount of some sort it’s kind of been a skating tradition for years. The only place more expensive around is in Louisville at champs. My kids enjoyed it and I’d come back, on a night where the price was cheaper. Too expensive for a family of 5 that has their own skates. I did feel like some of the announcements took away from the flow of the night. However if that’s what needs to be done to prevent the wrong crowd from entering I would say it’s an ok thing to deal with. Better than dealing with fights. Which we didn’t see anything like that. They enforce a dress code no hats or hoods up even for parents, which is a little odd especially since some teens still were allowed bandanna on head and hanging from pockets. Some of the teens there are dressed a little inappropriately but overall for a skating rink it wasn’t horrible as far as skanky kids hanging out. I’ve definitely seen worse. The music however is still lacking as it always has. They need a better sound system and a DJ that plays more actual skate music. But atleast it wasn’t playing a ton of inappropriate music like some rinks do...
Read moreI would give zero stars but that’s not an option. Don’t drop your kids off and leave if you want them to be safe. I have gone twice and stayed, watching the children interact. I have watched a boy get smacked in the back of the head and heard a group of boys plan on jumping a single boy in the bathroom. Sent my husband in to break it up. Staff did nothing. Second time I took my daughter for a birthday party and a group of girls followed her to the bathroom and were trying to instigate a fight. Again staff was informed and again staff did nothing. A boy that was with this group of girls rammed my daughter on the skating floor punching her in the stomach. When staff was notified we were told they stay neutral and were giving him another chance! There should be a zero tolerance. That is the only way these places will be safe for kids that don’t want to start trouble. It would also discourage children from going with the intent to fight or hurt someone just because they looked at them wrong. We need to have consequences for actions. I took my daughter and her friends home. If I take my children to a kid establishment I expect my children to be safe. We will never visit this place again! My children’s safety is...
Read moreThis doesnt even deserve one star. It was just awful. My friend sat down behind a pool table because she fell and got hurt and the "referee" yelled at her to get up. We were sitting in a booth and were told to leave the food area even though we were waiting on our other friend with our food. They threw away our drinks even though they were still half way full. We stayed for new years and on their website, it didnt tell us it was 20$ so wasted money on a horrible experience that WONT happen again. They need to update their website too. It's not free wifi, its free wifi for ONE HOUR. The referee man ( I wont put names) glared at my friends and i, followed us around and constantly pointed out small things to get us in trouble for. It was freezing in the building, so we got under a blanket we brought and he told us that there is a rule in the lobby about distance, but when we went to leave, we looked and there was not a rule about it. The food was terible and over priced. A two year old with a easy bake oven could make better food. The people there were awful. I will never go back to this place again. Take my advice. Its not worth it. You would have more fun walking around...
