Unique Horse Farm Tours was all that and more! We had family in from all over the country for a 2022 New Year's Eve wedding and were looking for a unique experience with some of the local flavor as none of us were Kentucky natives. Shaun absolutely delivered with his anecdotes and expertise having lived and worked in the industry for most of his life. He was both funny and informative and we felt like we got the inside scoop for all things horse-racing! It was incredible to meet horses with familiar names even to us non-horse folk and (bonus) all of the barn cats and kittens along the way. Even though the weather was drizzly and wintery, we kept warm on the comfortable bus in between stops. Shaun even went above and beyond giving us recommendations for BBQ in the area and promptly returning to the hotel when I forgot my jacket on the bus following the tour... If we are ever back in the area, we would love to go on another tour with Shaun!

We had a niece in town visiting from Seattle and decided to book a tour with Unique Horse Farm Tours. Shaun was our guide & I can't say enough about how personable and knowledgeable he was. He knew the horse industry inside out and his knowledge about the farms that we visited and those we didn't was remarkable. My husband grew up in Lexington and I have lived here nearly 40 years, but this was the first in-depth tour we've ever taken that visits the beautiful farms surrounding the city. We went into several stables and were able to pet horses and take pictures while Shaun explained the details of the Thoroughbred horse industry. I highly recommend for locals and visitors. We had a wonderful time and took some absolutely beautiful pictures. ** My only suggestion to make the stable visits even more enjoyable would be the addition of hand wipes in the van. 😊

My husband and I did the horse farm tour yesterday in Lexington with tour guide Jeff. It was amazing!! We traveled to several farms and got to see the horses up close outside and in the barns. Jeff had plenty of peppermint candies we could feed to the horses. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the farms, their owners, and overall horses in general. We didn't want the tour to end!! It was three hours and we met at Embassy Suites to be picked up. There are hotel signs to pay for parking, but we checked and that is only for overnight guests of the hotel. The tour company states parking is free and it is. Just wanted to mention it so people weren't confused. Again, we had an amazing time, and this is a must see tour if you are in the area and are interested in horses and horse racing! Thank you, Jeff!

THIS is the tour you want! Horse-related tours in an around Lexington abound, so it was extremely difficult to decide which one to choose. I wanted to see stallions, learn how race horses are trained, have the opportunity to visit with moms and their foals – this tour provided it all! Words cannot quite capture just how pleased we were with our Unique Horse Farm Tour and it all boiled down to our guide Jeff, who is sincerely what made the tour so special. His extensive knowledge, having spent a lifetime in the business, combined with his humor and absolute love of horses, was the heart and soul of this tour. His stories were fun, informative and extensive. We traveled from farm to farm with ease, entertained by Jeff all the while. There was familiarity and mutual respect displayed between Jeff and the individuals tending to the horses; and also between he and the horses! Of note- we were never rushed; we were able to spend plenty of time at each stop and we were the only group at each property, which really made it feel like a small, private tour with a friend rather than a commercial tour. I returned from the tour excited, enriched and surprised at how little the tour cost, considering all that it encompassed. Thank you for a...

AWESOME experience. Booked a tour for myself and friend visiting from Canada - went for the morning tour as we knew it would be hot later. The owner and tour guide Shaun, was incredibly prompt and friendly. He met us exactly where he said he would with a nicely labeled small bus. When we arrived we found out that we were the only ones who had booked that tour-I was so happy that he hadn't canceled on us! Very considerate of his customers. The tour was very flexible based on what would be best for the day - we went to one large very "professional" farm first and got to see (and pet!) tons of babies and beautiful horses. Next, as we drove around gorgeous horse country getting gems of info about the area and horses, we stopped in at a farm which had a swimming pool for horses and were lucky enough to see a GORGEOUS racing horse exercising. Finally, we stopped at a historic farm with more beautiful grounds (including barns used in the Sea Biscuit film) and lovely horses of course. A wonderful experience I can...
