Raley's — Local services in Reno

After years of shopping at Walmart & Costco when my kids were growing up. I find it refreshing to go into Raley’s who has as good of a selection of groceries but their produce and meat is a much greater quality. The best thing that shopping at Raley’s offers is the checkout. Walmart has 14 registers, 8 to 12 self checkout lanes and the smaller checkout areas on each end of the entire checkout are with another 16-20 registers. On any given day Walmart will have one of the smaller self checkouts, one of the self checkout lanes open and maybe one manned register.

On any given day Raley’s has the self checkout open and at least 4 of the manned registers open. Raley’s employees are phenomenally helpful and friendly. In my experience those manned registers are so much faster because when you get those who are technologically challenged…..OMG. I’ve seen elderly people take 15 minutes to scan 5 items and pay. Been going to Raley's forever and never had issues with sale items. Today I got my sale items and get up to the checkout and told them the I will need the coupons scanned. They have always scanned them upfront because they have them ready and available. Apparently you now must have them clipped to your phone. I am a somethings extra member, but you still have to have them on your phone. My phone is not setup for it and was told that they can't wait for me to set it up. I lost out on close to $50 in savings today, even though I put in my something extra membership, all because you now have to have the coupons inside your phone. Absolutely ridiculous they would not wait for me to get it setup or had another way where they could honor the sales that are blasted throughout the store. At about 3:00pm on 08/02/2020 multiple produce stockers were deliberately wearing their masks incorrectly with their noses hanging out of their masks. This makes a mockery out of the signs and overhead audio announcements asking customers to wear masks properly.
