Safe to buy from, with good prices if you are willing to wait for orders to be filled rather than getting something immediately that might be stocked in a warehouse. I found my bedroom set and a few more additional items at a very good price here after comparing several different retailers, and figured it was worth the savings to wait the extra 6 week ETA that was initially projected. There were delays which pushed back the date twice thanks to the pandemic, but that was not the fault of the store and everything was ready for delivery only about 6 weeks later than I had expected.
Overall I found the staff to be very responsive and helpful when I did have questions about how my order would be filled, usually getting a reply within a day of sending my inquiry. A couple of smaller things shipped direct to me from the manufacturer separate from the main furniture order, which was a surprise, as I had expected that everything would be held for a single delivery from the amb facility. Though I did have one item from my order that was found to be discontinued by the time the rest was ready for delivery, the staff was very good about helping me find a similar item that was in stock as a replacement with no hassle.
I didn't give a full five stars only because of some of the uncertainty about how things would proceed from placing the order and the fact that the online receipt is not an immediate itemized confirmation, so it did produce a little bit of anxiety for me since there are so many scammers out there. As a new customer, it was a little unnerving until my order was actually acknowledged after the July 4th holiday,
Also, the delivery of the order was a little bit sudden when it all did come in after a couple of adjustments to the ETA in October. I got a phone call about 8pm to let me know the order was filled, and also asking if I might be able to take delivery the next day. I would think a little more breathing room would be the default, with such a huge order, but Mike was very flexible and I ended up taking it about a week or so later.
You may want to take a screenshot of your purchase order before and after checkout and payment, since the itemized invoice stored with the online account seems subject to change. That had me nervous when the items I purchased were not listed the same way after a time, as apparently when the description of the set on the site changed for future purchases, it also affected the description of the order I had already placed. If I hadn't already contacted them about the order and specifically mentioned the set as having 5 pieces including the chest when I had initially inquired about how the order would be filled, I would have been worried that somehow there had been a mixup because the online receipt only mentioned the 4 piece set. Fortunately, the store was honest and delivered the whole thing, because I might not have had itemized evidence showing I had purchased it with the set if I had been counting on that to serve as proof.
Overall, the main bedroom set was a little bit off the mark, but not so problematic that it warranted a return. It was a much darker finish than the picture, more espresso color than cherry, and not as robust as I would hope. Again, this is the fault of the manufacturer, (Furniture of America) not the store, and given the price, I can definitely appreciate the beauty of the set, despite the so-so craftsmanship. Other pieces were very nice, though, and the rug is probably my favorite thing.
Making my first major furniture purchase at AMB was ultimately a satisfying experience, as I found the staff responsive and pleasant, and got my stuff at a very reasonable price. Just one star away from the full five due to the uncertainty of what to expect in the process and the mutable records online. As I stated I overlooked the back order memo, however, it would have been nice to have been updated by the company the ETA instead of trying to hound someone down to get an answer. And yes, the customer service from the owner was rude and to whoever answered when I called to inquire about my refund 2 days later. (Which I still have not received) You forgot to address how you tried to charge me for canceling when the table hadn't even shipped. I had already been very patient after you kept pushing back the date it would have been nice had you called and at least let me know the table was in like you claimed it was. Like I said no communication! Btw I still have not received my refund, so I will handle that with my bank since I most definitely will not deal with anyone from this "company".
Ordered a dining set in April. APRIL! It is now October. I must have overlooked where it said it was back ordered a month. My fault. I kept calling to check the status of my order and they kept putting the date back. No communication from the company whatsoever. One of the MANY times I called I finally talked to a woman who actually had some customer service skills. She was extremely apologetic and assured me I can cancel at anytime. I didnt cancel then which was a mistake. Come October I call to cancel and the owner gets on the phone with the worse attitude and what do you know my table was going to ship that day! What a coincidence! I told him I found another table set and would still like to cancel. With his attitude he tells me it was going to cost me over a hundred dollars to cancel and that the policy was that once its shipped they charge. But he had just told me it was getting ready to ship out which means it hasn't shipped yet. Yet he still wanted to charge me. He even had the audacity to tell me you've waited this long what's another week? After a little back and forth he finally agreed to cancel the order without charging. I called back today (2 days after speaking with owner) to ask how long it takes to refund the money back and they said 48-72 hours and hung up on me! It took less than 24 hours to charge my card though. I'm just glad I didnt end up giving this place my business!

Read moreDO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience started off positive, as their prices were much better for the item I wanted than I had found elsewhere . Initially they were very responsive... until one of my items arrived damaged.
I spent a total of $2933.00 for two sideboard tables. One of the tables came damaged, with an obvious crack in the paint/sealant right in the front and center of the table. I reached out immediately and sent photos of the damage. I received an email back stating they would let the manufacturer know and would be in contact with me ASAP. After nearly six weeks and several ignored emails and phone calls I finally reached Lisa on the phone. She put me on hold and then informed me that after speaking with Tony, they were willing to give me $100 in credit! ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!! She informed me that if I was not happy with this as resolution, I could email Tony, as he is the person who takes care of things of this sort.
I emailed Tony and informed him that a $100 credit is not acceptable, seeing as the item arrived to my house damaged. I received a VERY snarky email back from Tony stating "This item is NOT DAMAGED, there is a hair in the paint." It is very clear that there is, in fact a crack and not a hair in the paint but he was insistent to keep arguing with me. He also gave me the option of "you can pay to have the item shipped back to be swapped out at our warehouse." Can you imagine what that shipping cost would be?!?!
As of the time of this review, over six weeks since receiving my item, I have still not received any resolution.
BEWARE of this company. The "customer service" (if that is what you even call it...) is inadequate, rude and will not work with you to make their wrongs right. They are crooks who do not care about customer satisfaction.
*Edited to add: I filed a complaint with the BBB. AMB was given two weeks to respond to several attempts from the BBB to reach them and they refused so my case was closed.
