My dog died within barely 24 hours into Pet Paradise's care. It took me almost two months to write this review for obvious reasons but I want people to think twice before they use their services or drop off their dog at this establishment. The usual daycare I use for my dogs was closed for New Years and since I was going out of town I looked at most of the pet daycares in my area and did my research. Upon finding Pet Paradise, I called and spoke to Desiree who explained how the pets are taken care of and what type of room my two doberman pinschers would be in. I made a reservation and dropped them off a few days later before traveling. I received a call less than 24 hours later around 7 pm that one of my two dogs, Kato (9 years old), wasn't "being himself." She identified herself as the night supervisor and I asked her what that meant considering they had had my dog for only 24 hrs and it was the first time they had taken care of him. She said he seemed lethargic, his gums aren't as pink, and he's refusing to have dinner. I told her my younger pup can be annoying sometimes if they can separate them (they only had one 300 lb room available when I booked) and let them know I would pay for another room if it opened up as long as they're both happy. She said she was going to keep him behind the desk with her and monitor him and give me a call back if anything. Around 10:30 pm I received another call, this time from a man who also identified himself as a night supervisor. He said that Kato's temperature is coming back up and he seems to be getting better, I was confused and asked if he had a fever since the previous person did not mention anything about temperature to me. He apologized and said he didn't know why she wouldn't mention anything about temperature considering he was HYPOTHERMIC and his temperature was 97 degrees (normal being 101). At this point I did not want to take any chances and immediately called my mom who lives in Hollywood and asked her to drive all the way to Palm Beach to pick him up and take him to an emergency vet. Once she arrived at the vet, Kato was diagnosed with Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (GDV) or "bloat." We paid almost $10,000 for emergency surgery to correct this but Kato did not make it to surgery and passed away right before. In the upcoming days after Kato's death Pet Paradise did not call me ONCE to check on Kato or see what happened after his emergency middle of the night pick up. Not only did they not call, but they also did NOT send me any report cards of my remaining dog, King. The ONLY report card I received in the entire week was the very first day before Kato passed. I had to call myself every single day after Kato passed to check on my other dog King because they could not bother to send me any updates or pictures of him outside like they were supposed to. Before I flew back home, I called Pet Paradise and spoke to Desiree who had no idea what had occurred to Kato since no one had bothered to ask or call. I explained to her that he passed due to their negligence and I asked her to have a manager on site for when I pick up my other dog so I can speak to them. The next day I called from the airport to let them know I was going to pick up King and to make sure there was a manager I could speak to and the person who answered the phone said "I am the manager here today but I don't really know what's going on" which was another slap in the face of their negligence. After arriving at Pet Paradise to pick up my only remaining dog, they led us into a "private room" which was their employee break room which was absolutely disgusting and filthy. The manager said she's "not in the business of hurting dogs" and proceeded to tell us that she works for a corporate company who makes them take as many dogs as they can. She admitted that they were negligent with Kato and that he should not have developed bloat on their watch as it is completely preventable and that they had 150 dogs to take care of that weekend. I dropped off two dogs and only left with one due to Pet...
Read moreSorry this review is lengthy but you must read all of it.This is no paradise anything but. I have no idea how they have the great reviews that they do. If I could rate zero I would. The front employees are ok. Needless to say I made a appointment for a tour and a evaluation of my pup. Super excited waiting for the morning we are supposed to be there. We walk in and to the left you can view dogs in a play area. I saw way to MANY dogs all different sizes with only 2 employees. I asked what is the employee to dog ratio. She couldn’t answer and said well it’s spring break right now so we are busy and Christmas time is crazy. I’m thinking well hire some more people but you know cut the corners so they have a lower payroll. The dogs were WILD, Barking which is normal I understand, but that’s all they were doing and scratching at the window. The employees were talking and cleaning up the poop which was basically I’ll I saw was POOP and PEE. No interaction with the dogs. So I’m thinking oh boy not good way to many dogs in one room doing nothing. I kept open mind thinking don’t judge . I filled all the paperwork out explaining to the receptionist that I saw a pool on the other side . My puppy is 4 months old he is a large breed Dobbie so he appears older but he isn’t he is mentally 2 yrs old child. I said I do not want him in the pool he has never been in one and he probably can’t swim. She said OH we have life jackets all sizes we can put on him . I said I prefer not to. So another girl came out and took my dog. I told the front desk receptionist that I was there for a tour and evaluation that I want to see what he does she said ok let’s go find him. We go straight to the pool we don’t see him she mics to the girls by the pool and asks are you guys evaluating the new dog yet the girl says no I don’t think so. Well where is he oh is he the dobbie she said yes. I promise I had my face so close to the window and in the far corner set my dog by himself with a life jacket on so scared. While again FULL GROWN DOGS RUNNING JUMPING IN POOL tons of them and yes again 2 girls watching I mean talking. They went over to the corner and grabbed my dogs leash and ran him in the middle of all the dogs at the edge of pool. FIRST VISIT NO EVALUATION NEVER BEEN NEAR A POOL WASNT SUPPOSE TO BE PER MY REQUEST. This was my puppies FIRST time being around this environment and of course the LAST!! So I said give me my dog obliviously he’s to young it was to overwhelming. I would think that they would slowly introduce the dogs and introduce the new guests in a different manner. My dog was so HAPPY TO SEE ME this was the longest 5 or so minutes of his life. We left and I told my little guy I’m sorry he looked so sad and put his head on my neck. I said mommy didn’t know it was like the DOG POUND. I promise I wasn’t putting you up for adoption. People really need to investigate stop in unannounced even though they mic each other and say tour or so and so is here. It’s a true farce!!!!! Don’t let the website that looks so nice and the call center who takes your info who are very nice and professional trick...
Read moreI watched the webcam for several weeks off and on and several days in a row before making a final decision on where to place my dog. (as well as toured) My family and I were basically in tears watching a crippled dog get picked on the entire time that the dogs were outside for play time. The same smaller dog kept nipping at his crippled leg and/or tail over and over and over, so much so, that the crippled dog had to keep sitting down to avoid the contact. This same dog would sit there beside him and wait for him to get up or follow him all over ready to bite and tease at any moment. You could tell that the crippled dog was stressed out. The few times he was alone, he kept looking around to see where this same little dog was before he decided to get up and walk around. The lethargic employee(s) either noticed and didn't care or didn't notice at all. Then, all of a sudden, they put the crippled dog in the seclusion cage the entire rest of the play time! I couldn't believe it. They had the wrong dog locked up. I was thinking maybe they were trying to protect him, but the smaller dog who was bullying should have been the one secluded. Furthermore, I saw the girl with the long brown braid down her back actually reprimand the crippled dog daily even though he absolutely did not do anything wrong. I'm not an "over the top" animal rights person, it was just so obvious to me and my entire family that this dog needed a little extra love and attention, not reprimanding. Meanwhile, the brat dog gets away with it. Doesn't this owner watch what's going on? I hope so! I watched for several days because I wanted to make sure I was understanding as best as possible because sometimes webcams can be deceiving. The employees in both outdoor cages looked very very detached and bored. Some did bring treats out, (it looked like) and the dogs all gathered, but I didn't see anyone get down on the ground with the dogs or play with them at all. I hope dog owners who read this, will realize that just like kids, not ALL dogs prefer to play with a huge group of dogs every single day. I have decided hands down for in home care and walks. Oh, I wanted to add that I tried calling the facility before posting this, but the young girl couldn't wait to get me off the phone, she was "so busy" and had no idea what I wanted because she didn't ask nor did she say when I should call back when she wouldn't be "so busy." This place is a joke. They...
