Praetas Technologies — Local services in Riviera Beach

I was in a bad place, a death in the family had occurred and all of a sudden my Gateway desktop computer could not connect to the internet, not being tech savvy, I tried everything I could to try for a connection to no avail. I needed to be able to receive , print , scan , download and send so many documents to deal with everything to provide a half dozen people and organizations with death certificates, life insurance companies and all. I needed help and located PRAETAS TECHNOLOGIES and they were within a few miles of my home. My internet card died and needed replacement, due to the cost of replacing it on a 8-10 year old computer, they provided one of their custom built home computer for me at a very reasonable cost, AND, they came to my home to set everything up and showed me all my features available to me. They also provide tech support if I get stuck and can’t figure out what to do. All this was completed within 3 hours of calling them. I can’t be more happy, as I stated, I am definitely not tech savvy . If I tried to do everything they did I would still be having problems getting started and would have spent way too much money too. They did not oversell me like the box stores would have. I am extremely pleased with the services provided and because of that plan to have them assist me with a entertainment system soon, like tomorrow. I know things will go well using Praetas the moderate amount of money spent with a tech from PRAETAS will definitely GO A LONG WAY!! It’s amazing that companies request for stellar reviews to get a leg up on competition, and when you do not ultimately give them the 5 star rating, they pressure you to do so. To me it’s unethical. I previously did that and immediately got a call asking me to reconsider, which at the time I did because I knew I would need their help in the future. Well today was the day I needed help ( 10/29/2024) I made that call for help and I must be flagged because my call went unanswered and was asked to leave a message and would be called back as soon as a tech was Available. I NEVER GOT CALLED BACK! And a few hours later called again, and the call went to voicemail once again. So much for editing my review to help them out in a positive note! My issue previously was with an office manager that I was spoken to disrespectfully because he could not get my email spelled right and accused me not paying for services rendered on a remote call.!So I edited my review and dropped 3 stars from it. That’s when the owner stepped in asking for me to reconsider my review, because of him taking the initiative to apologize to me, I changed the one star back to 5 stars. Now it seems like I have been blacklisted , being that now my calls are being ignored. Remember- this is truly my opinion. But it seems like that is the game...

Diagnostics and repair was all done in 48hrs - good job! I did not appreciate the upselling and the pressure they were putting on me to upgrade to a new hard drive. They wanted me to purchase 256GB of SSD drive for $120 and one can buy 1TB of SSD drive online for $69.99. They tried to sell it to me on 4 different accasions: 2 x on the phone, 1 x via email, 1 x at their office. TOO MUCH guys! They wanted me to do other things too: Here is a break down of the suggested repairs:

$80 (Replacement Power Supply) $100 (Power supply installation labor) $120 (250GB SSD) $150 (Windows Installation) $150 (Data recovery) I only did a power supply replacement and computer was back to normal. Oh btw, they also offered me to buy an entire computer from them! Power supply was replaced and there is nothing wrong with my hard drive as they suggested. See attached. CONTINUED: Manager called me the following day (after I provided the proof to their reply that i am not their customer!) to offer me a hard drive replacement for FREE just so that i would REMOVE the Google Review. Unethical. I said I did not appreciate this type of action on his behalf or behalf of his company. That is not how any company should collect their reviews. My intergrity was also questioned when I explained that 4 times they tried to manipulate me to buy something I did not want or need. Now I understand how they have 5.0 average ratings. They want to 'make it right' by giving you a service just so that you would change your review to 5 stars. BEWARE! Preatas customer service representatives (company will have multilple reps talk to you) will try to convince you to upgrade your computer parts, not because you need them (as claimed), but because the staff are trained to do so. This is what was stated by their manager in today's call. I tried to explain to their manager, that 2 phones calls and one in person conversation is not only "pushy" but overboard attempt to upsell not only a service but also a product. In their reply below, they are clearly twisting the truth trying the put a 'blame' on me that i could not be reached. That is simply not true. 11/1/2022 First off, I’m a computer user not a fixer. Yesterday I opened up my laptop and my screen separated from the keyboard. It scared me. I live on my computer every day. I immediately knew I needed help and had to buy a new computer before I lost all my information. I went to Best Buy, found a computer and I was told about a Geek service for transferring my information from the old computer to the new one. Great, just what I needed. He set up an appointment for the next day and gave me an instruction sheet to follow before coming in. Download all files to a thumb drive, hard drive or to the cloud. Write down all important passwords List all important information about what I want transferred Holy Cow! I know how to write, answer and delete emails, do some accounting, and other minor things. But I haven’t used a thumb drive in 10 years and I sure don’t know how to get into a cloud. I called my accountant and gave him my predicament. He said, forget that! “Drop it off at Praetas Technologies they are a large company and have always helped me for years and nice people.” An hour later I was walking through their door. I was greeted by Steven Potts, a support tech. “How can I help you!” I showed him my broken computer and my new one still in the box. I said I want to transfer everything on my old computer onto my new computer. “No problem. We can mirror your old to the new. You can have it back this afternoon or tomorrow morning.” Can you do my finacial information and Office software including Publisher? “Yes, I’ll call you if we need anything.” Are you kidding me! What a stress reliever! His word was good. I picked up my new computer the next morning. Everything was done. Steven could not have been more helpful. He was patient and understanding.
