I try and I try to keep business local. Unfortunately, here’s another example of Rochester’s business model:
July 30 2018: Peruse the floor...lots of people coming and going without any acknowledgement. Finally snagged an employee. Inquire as to stock (oh, not that one; oh, sorry we don’t have that one either; oh, well we have one but it’s already spoken for but let’s see if we can snag it and order another for them). Finally opted for a model which required an order. “It’ll be here in a week” (and invoice says it’ll be in on 8/8). They direct you to an employee who “contracts” for install for cash discount (nothing shady there, right?). Get everything ordered and they’ll call when it arrives.
Aug 8, 2018: don’t hear a peep. Call them. First person says “well, uh, uhm, can I put you on hold?” Literally 5 minutes later, he comes back on “well our order guy isn’t here today so he’ll call you tomorrow”. Uhm, excuse me but do you have my dishwasher or not? “Well, it’s somewhere between here and there.” (Yea, sure, Timbuktu?). Fine, call me back.
Aug 9, 2018: I get a call from original sales guy. “Hey, your dishwasher will be here NEXT Friday!” (He sounds excited about this amazing turnaround that’s only 10 days later than expected!). My reply: “let’s do this...give me a refund and cancel my order” (that you obviously gave to someone else like you originally tried to do for me on the sales floor). “Uh, uhm, okay we can do that.” Great, thanks. (Another call, “uhm, our machine doesn’t have any way of saving your information so you’ll have to come in and process the refund....FINE!).
In sum, go elsewhere unless you want the runaround and lies. Not for me! And if you have my dishwasher, shame on you!
Meanwhile, 8/10, go to competition, get same brand, similar model dishwasher IN STOCK and ready for install next...
Read moreAppliance Village is the perfect reason to “buy local”! My recent experience in buying a new refrigerator from Appliance Village was pleasurable! From my visit with sales agent Danielle, to the Appliance Village delivery/installation team (Brady and Mike), they really know how to make a customer feel valued. Mike and Brady were so careful in their delivery/installation…taking time to not damage my home…right through to ensuring that I knew how to run the appliance before they left. I complemented Mike and Brady’s and their response was “we take pride in our work, and want to take care with our customers’ home in the same way we take care of our own homes.” And they were really sincere…even after lifting/maneuvering that big heavy appliance…which is really hard work! Thanks Mike/Brady and Danielle.
Buying a new appliance should be an enjoyable experience…and Appliance Village has made it that way. They are a home-town company with longevity of good reputation. And they will stand behind what they sell, provide local delivery/set-up and local service. They will make you feel a valued customer.
Before I went to Appliance Village, I was trying to save a little money. I learned another life lessen the hard way: DON’T EVER BUY APPLIANCES on-line directly from a manufacturer’s website. If things go wrong (and they always do) buying from the manufacturer will cost you WAY MORE money and your time, effort, frustration…with everything falling on your shoulders to resolve issues from afar. Go to Appliance Village for good end-to-end service...
Read moreFirst off, I know and understand that Appliance failures are not the distributors fault. But, the run of luck I had based off their recommendations has been extremely infuriating.
Refrigerator within 18 months sprang a leak and flooded the main floor of our brand new house. Had to replace not only the floor but also the refrigerator.
Oven had debris inside fan and did not work within 4 months upon us moving in.
Dryer has been replaced within 18 months because of 3 needed repairs on same issue. $250 a shot for repairs without the guarantee it will stay fixed.
Dishwasher sprang a leak, flooded my new basement. 10 days for them to look at and repair.
Clothes washer quit working within 18 months.
When I have called in for service I have been told a minimum of 2 weeks when their sales folks said they have the best service around and it was timely. I’m using an independent repair place and they are usually available same day or within 48 hours. We treat all our items with great care - do the recommended services and have been extremely careful using appliances.
They are usually more expensive then most other locations based on their service. In my old house we bought from Best Buy and only had 2 issues with appliances in 8 years. One was our fault.
Save money and frustration by buying else where and using the independent repair guys (who are more cost effective on repairs and timely in response).
I have and will continue to buy appliances from other places and I recommend others...
