Quit taking my elderly mother to the day program. Always made to feel like she was a bother. Only accepted her for 4 hour time blocks, stating it was in my Moms best interest when it appeared to be in Donna's best interest due to staffing. Director Donna seemed overburdened by how to manage an elderly client who required attention. Donna often reprimanded me for being early for program by 10-15 minutes and suggested I pick up my Mom early by same amount of time. Not exactly a respite for a caregiver. Only added to stress level. Donna required that I bring my Mom with a water bottle stating ..requires too much time to get her a drink of water when she asks for it. Mom stated she always felt treated as an elementary child instead of a senior most likely due to Donnas elementary ed. background. I am a Social Worker doing my best to help seniors and disabled people in need. I was helping a senior who is disabled and has a low income. This senior has often went for days without food for herself and her dog. I called Oakland County meals on wheels program and was told that they don't deliver in this senior's area. I was told that the Older Person's Commission (OPC) does deliver in that area. I have called the OPC several times and left messages. This seems to be a wonderful facility. This is the first time I visited. I went with a friend to see the Irish dancers. For a multi-purpose facility it had a nice stage and a good sound system. The A/V Department did a nice job. As we walked through, you could see a number of activities going on concurrently. It is also my understanding that they have a very nice pool.
